Hi all Has anyone ever ordered from Excalibur Miniaturen in Germany? link They do some unusual 25mm figures (in their Erotic line) which might work for a nasty Nazi (kinky) torture chamber. Warning – not safe for work? Some of the sculpts look good, whilst others appear pretty rank, but that might be more down to the poor paintjobs in their pictures. They also do a Batgirl and Joker figure (with the long pistol from the Tim Burton film), which might work for the 1930s Pulp era. I've tried ordering from them using the Paypal option, but always get an error message saying that the customer is not currently receiving payments. Excalibur haven't replied to my email about the problem. The only other alternative to pay is by Money Order, which I think would work out to be expensive. |

Yes it probably would work out to be expensive. If Paypal handles the monetary conversion, it will cost considerabley less than having a bank perform the service. Maybe you can find another retailer who deals with Excaliber, and is more Paypal friendly? ( the last I heard, the postage out of Germany is exhorbitant too ) |

Yeah, WW2 great excuse. I love those but can't seem to justify getting them. |

I have some Excalibur miniatures, and they are nicely sculpted with good crisp detail, like Reaper if not as dynamically posed. They seem to be on the smaller side of the 28mm size, closer to 25mm, but not tiny. Unfortunately, I bought mine from a vendor at Origins several years ago, who is now out of business. |

When I first found out about Excalibur I thought the figures were crude (that is, a bit rough as well as rude!) Then I saw the photo of their 'Sleeping Beauty' figure and couldn't believe it was from the same company that made the really rough looking 'woman with whip'. Then I saw the Batgirl and Joker, then all the others
Combatpainter – I know what you mean about justifying getting them. But then my Shanghai club is populated with Hasslefree and Ground Zero girls masquerading as Siberian White Russian girls. Now all I need is another more extreme club to justify some Excalibur minis. Being 25mm isn't a problem – GZG's are 25mm and they look okay as women against other 28mm figures. Now if only Excalibur would take my money through Paypal

I LOVE the "Joker" mini (called "Mr. Long" at their site). Now for an appropriate Batman figure – in scale, of course. |

The Werner Klocke models are pretty good, the Stefan Niehues sculpts are "not too good", to say the least. Problem indeed is the paint job, which IRL is really good – seen them on a stand a few years ago -, but on the photo it looks horrible. The erotical line, well, you buy them for fun, not for the brilliant sculpts, so to say. |

I purchased some several years ago through New Wave (are these guys still around, or did the Better Business Beareau catch up with them?). Turns out all the minis I liked were sculpted by Werner Klocke, his is definately the cream of the crop at Excalibur. Be warned, though, their minis are cast of some shoddy potmetal that is extremely brittle, and I have broken a couple of them- one that I was putting the finishing touches on the base, like the LAST PAINTSTROKE, I dropped and it snapped off at the ankles. You could probably hear me cursing for miles. Yes, dropped on the floor, but I can't think of another (one piece) casting that would have broken like that- MAYBE bent. Even then, it could have easily be bent back- these guys don't bend at all! The stuff is even hard to drill and pin without it crumbling. The only other minis I have seen like them is (was) Enigma Miniatures (long since put out of business by GW for supposedly making 40K IP infringers). |

Hi Beast Rabban I was surprised to see somebody had taken an interest in this old thread. Thanks for the warning. I never did pursue ordering from Excaliber, though I'm still tempted by some of the 'less extreme' figures. |
