What is everyone's favourite ever pose in 54mm plastic figures?
I think mine is the officer figure in the AIP Union Iron Brigade advancing with raised sword but a few others also spring to mind e.g
The bare headed officer figure from Conte's 24th foot firing pistol – it just cries out 'my name is Michael Caine'.
TSSD's German WWII long coat casualty figure.
Or from an era ago, the Airfix Napoleonic BRitish officer heriocally leading his men forward.
I could go on and on…..

I have a giant Inquisitor scale Space Marine that is running with bolter in one hand and sword in the other. It's probably one of my favs because it's so big and dynamic.

Replicants Bounty Hunter. The guy on the left.

Has that whole "I'm gonna kick your butt, and there ain't a thing you can do about it" look. Paints up good too.

No way, has to be the GI with a Tommy gun, hurling a grenade: link

I'm a fan of GW's Eisenhorn, the model and character. I also love Preiser and Historex' academy figures!

…and if you can include 1/35, the Dustgame rocket troops.

well back when I was a kid I had the 'standard germanWII' poses in this scale- my favorite was the fellow with the smg on the top right:

now I have no idea where those figs are, but I'm really impressed with so many of the sets out there that I'm certain to have plenty of new favs lol

The "Rommel" figure from the Matchbox Afrika Korps set and the officer from their British Infantry set were some of my favorites, as well the skiers from Airfix's German Mountain Troops. Actually those two Matchbox sets are among my favorite toys, not just toy soldiers, of all time. They were some of the first scale model soldiers I ever bought.

Good stuff, keep them coming.

Theodwin the lost – Matchbox were excellent. I have originals of the German, British and USA infantry as well as the British Commandos. Recently also good copies from China – sealed and boxed and good value at £5.00 GBP including P&P.

Big Miller Pro – good pose but unreal machine gun. Prefereed the Airfix Afrika Korps sub machine gunner.

My personal favorite is the AiP German with all the stick gernades strapped to him. It would sure stink if he gets shot.

Airfix WWII US Paratroops Kneeling Thompson third from the left. I painted all of these in my collection and named them for skirmish "personal" wargaming ala Featherstone. His name was Donald Harry Baltimore (after one of my blond haired students). Each figure in that collection was named for kids I taught but for some reason the personality on the gaming table just kept clicking with this figure till I remember it 20 years later.

Good old #3.

I had a ton of these when I was a kid, and I'm going to collect them all again, new ones and the old Deetails.

I love the Marx German doing the goosestep. It looks so cheesy, yet it looks neat with several rows of them for set ups.

einaroneeye27 Apr 2008 12:14 p.m. PST

Fave 54mm poses? That is tough to narrow it down but I can maybe make a top five…in no particular order:
Marx Japanese standing firing machine gun.
Marx Viking running with sword raised and axe in the other hand.
Conte German officer in long coat firing pistol
Esci US para firing rifle, sort of leaning back
Barzso 1812 British officer with sword keeping lines dressed.
If I had to think about it again tomorrow, probably three out of five would change:)
Best to all,
Mike

My favorite as a kid (and still today, actually) is the Marx Union bugler with the pistol in his other hand. He was always my alter ego when playing with my "Battle of the Blue and Gray" set.

Oberst Radl06 Jul 2010 6:31 p.m. PST

I liked the "follow me" officer. I had one with a bit of helmet strap swinging off to the side, which made him look like an old campaigner. Or the Airfix british infantry crouching pistol officer.

Of course he had to be backed up by the GI crouching over the Bren-style machine gun (followed by the Marx ammo-can carrying guy). And the Airfix grease-gun guy, and the Airfix US paratrooper. And the Airfix Australian machete guy. Plus a couple of Gurkhas.

It was an international unit assigned to repeatedly assault the Axis super-secret weapons facility where captured generals were interrogated, located among the roots of a large tree in the farthest corner of the back yard.
