It's not wargaming, but I thought it might be of interest anyway
Play Panty Explosion and take the role of a Psychic Japanese schoolgirl. With the help of your friends you will endure high school, battle nightmarish demons, best rivals, achieve goals and explore the mysterious and terrifying world of modern Tokyo. You may be cursed with Psychic powers, or you may be left defenseless as a normal girl. Itís up to you to see that your Student survives both the supernatural and mundane horrors of the Japanese educational system!Panty Explosion is a roleplaying game for 4 or more players. In Panty Explosion you and your friends take the role of Japanese High School girls. At least one of you will have Psychic powers. As a group you will create a story about how your Students survived and triumphed against the adversity of otherworldly demons, shadowy agents and the Japanese educational system. link |

The title is so wrong in a way or three. And I know people who'll want it once I tell them

I'm going to keep my 'tentacles' outta, er
OFF this one! There's enough 'tentacle abuse' in hentai manga already
and as a proud sponsor of the 'T.L.O.' (Tentacle Liberation Organization)
I must strongly protest IF any tentalces were 'abused' or 'molested' in the creation or playing of this game!!!! (PETA&Tentacles anyone???) Carpe' Tentacle'um of the Lost Sushi Bar

When you get to a certain age, "Panty Explosion" means something entirely different. Just sayin'. |

o_O It gets points for a creative title. I would have made it more "Japanese advertising" and called it "SUPER SHINEY ROCK STAR PANTY EXPLOSION PARTY!" What is a "Mundane Horror"? Oh, gosh, don't mind him – he's just a zombie gnawing on some victim
you see this thing more and more these days. |

How about some variations? Boxer Ignition: play as one of a group of flatulent Jocks, as you try to win your local school sports leagues, get off with the cheerleaders and fight demons that attack your school, whilst constantly bedeviled by problem flatulence from your excessive beer consumption. Or Tightie-Whitie Implosion: play as one of a group of anally retentive geeks, reviled by your fellow students, but all the while fighting behind the scenes on their behalf to save the college and even mankind (and you still have to get that science paper in on time!). More seriously, the example of actual play looks as though it would be an attractive RPG for young girls at school, and I am sure it will sell well in that customer base in the far east. |

An example of play from Tightie-Whitie Implosion: Dave, a level 3 Jock was trying to humiliate Alan, a novice Geek from a rival games system. Hurling abuse at him in front of a crowd of baying students. Big bonus points if he is successful, as there was a pair twin cheerleaders in the crowd. Dave made humiliating references to the Geek's lack of physical, sexual and sporting prowess. He also dropped an SBD (a Silent But Deadly fart). This nauseating stench had a limited area of effect, but was deployed to weaken Alan's physical resistance. Alan however, whilst reeling from the SBD, used all of his anal retention dice to resist the attack. On their own they would not have been suffient at his level, but he just made the resistance roll by performing a self wedgie. Whilst devastating when performed by a rival gang member, secret self wedging enhanced Alan's anal retention by two levels! Making his roll, Alan retaliated with a withering attack on the Jock's poor grades, humiliating him in front of the crowd. Dave had made poor choice of location to launch his attack, as the crowd in the science block contained a large proportion of Geek NPCs. Also, bonus points here for Alan if he succeeds, as the crowd also included the really hot new lady maths lecturer – impressing her would enable Alan to attempt an onanistic fantsy enhancement upgrade before the next gaming session! Failing to resist the intellectual critique, Dave has to back down. However, before he leaves the ritual fighting ground, he leans forward and punches the Geek right in his oh-so-clever face. Falling to the ground, blood pouring from his nose, his glasses askew, Alan secretly smiles. He knows he has won this battle. The GM will also have to award him bonus MHG (Moral High Ground) points for Dave's last minute physical strike. And even better, the NPC maths lecturer has come over to him and is helping him up! Yes!! He will without doubt go up a level before the next game, and will even be able to attempt a class 2 fantasy enhancement this very night, as he managed to "inadvertantly" brush against the maths lecturer, which for a Geek player character is just as good as real sex is for a Jock! |

Hmmmm
. I think you've captured it pretty well there. But I still give points to PE simply because it uses a value-laden term that 'tighty-whitie' doesn't match

Hey, this looks like fun. I especially am attracted to the section which reads: The Student can make someones head explode. This involves the targets head literally bursting and spraying gore and bone fragments in all directions. Because the Student does not have much control over this power, sometimes this will simply cause a nosebleed or the breaking of bones. You gotta love a game where you can explode heads. Regards, the Gorb |

Looks quite interesting, actually, after looking at the demo version and the example of play. I doubt I'd ever be able to persuade my gaming gang to pretend to be teenage Japanese girls, though. Just how do you get them to stop thinking "I want to be a big, burly, manly man's man type of man, with either a big gun or a big sword"??? "So, I'm like a Japanese Schoolgirl? What? Presumably she at least has loads of shuriken and a katana? Huh? Huh?" |
chronoglide | 26 Nov 2006 12:41 p.m. PST |
Poly
we tried that once with Cyberpunk, if you remember
and it did implode after a few sessions
.just couldn't get my head round teenage arabic girls
hmmm
there's definitely a joke there somewhere
|
Plynkes | 26 Nov 2006 1:23 p.m. PST |
And the best part was that it was actually your gun-toting burly man's man detective character, who had had an enforced sex-change operation and his memory wiped (and fake memories of being an Arab prostitute added) by the bad guys. But as we never finished the adventure you never found that out! Mwah-ha-ha-ha! |
Plynkes | 26 Nov 2006 1:26 p.m. PST |
Well I've ordered it from Spirit Games. I shall read it, but whether we shall ever play it is another matter

You know we did consider "Super Party Panty Happy Explosion" and other variations. In the end we went with something more succinct. We joked around about making some miniatures combat rule system as well for it, but we are not that organized nor created an inspiring rules set to use. However we will never make LARP rules for "Panty Explosion". |
