Greetings shipmates, We understand some folks still have not received their copy of General Quarters 3rd Edition, and wish to explain the reasons behind the delay. Our initial plan was to ship pre-orders the first or second week of September, but, due to a severe delay in printing, that did not occur. The problems receiving printed product delayed many orders for well over a month. During this time, orders continued to come in from stores, distributors, and gamers. By the time we received everything we had ordered from the printer, we were sold out and a backlog was starting to accumulate. We placed a re-order with the printer, and hope they are able to ship our order in the next couple of weeks. All pre-orders have shipped. Orders to U.S.A. addresses should have been received by now. Any domestic purchasers who have not received their copy please contact me immediately at cinc@odgw.com. International orders were shipped about two weeks ago via U.S. Postal Service Global Priority Mail. However, those shipments are not showing up in their tracking system. The USPS has been contacted and they are working on tracking those packages. We will keep everyone posted via the ODGW website — odgw.com — on the status of those orders. If necessary, we will re-ship all missing orders as soon as we have new inventory. Hopefully the orders are in transit and were simply held up for some reason. Everyone who has placed an order should have Download Library online access to the Registered Users GQIII area on our website. From there you can download the entire product as well as lots of bonus materials. If you do not have access, again please email cinc@odgw.com immediately. We are still taking orders. Those ordering a hard copy of the rules will receive access to the online area of the website, usually within 24 hours, and their hard copy will ship as soon as they arrive. We apologize for the rough start in getting GQIII out the door and into your hands. But more than simply explaining and apologizing, we are actively addressing both the printer and shipping issues. Specifically, we are investigating additional printers who can be more responsive to our needs. Also, we are about to complete a deal with a well-regarded company to handle our shipping and related responsibilities, so that the difficulties ODGW and its customers have experienced in the past are not repeated. We truly appreciate everyone's patience, and will be offering everyone who pre-ordered a discount on a future purchase. If you have any comments or suggestions, we encourage you to visit our website and post them on our forum. We will address all of them. Sincerely,

Heres a question for those of us going to Fall In: what is the availability going to be like at the con? Thanks. |
| ODGW CinC | 28 Oct 2006 6:50 a.m. PST |
We hope to have copies at Fall-In. Our printer has indicated he will be able to provide us with stock. In any case, the ODGW staff will be there, and we have two games of General Quarters scheduled.

slightly OT question here – am I right in thinking that 04-102X General Quarters 3rd Ed. ONLINE ACCESS ONLY on the OSGW website is a pdf version of the rules? |
| enrious | 28 Oct 2006 2:26 p.m. PST |
Yes, online access only grants you the ability to download the pdf. If you buy the print copy, you are granted access to the pdf as well. Also note that for other ODGW products, when they release errata, they do so by incorporating it into the complete page(s) so you can simply print it out and replace the existing page in your rulebook. I'd think that they would do the same for GQ3 |

My patience was just rewarded by my store receiving the 15 copies that I had pre-ordered from ODGW. Jon had suggested that I stock Mein Panzer and I did, and then noticed today an additional bit of why (besides ODGW being in business to sell stuff). In small print, in the corner of the inside cover sheet of Scenario Pack #1 it said "created by Jonathan Coulter". Ah, when I saw this I thought of a possible ulterior motive, perhaps, maybe? (making sure you readers know I'm all smiles with this by making you imagine me sticking my tongue out, heh). But then when I noticed the main cover more closely I did a double-take on the photo of a tabletop scene. There in the center of the scene was the 2-piece model of a 1/285 scale stone bridge, and I immediatley recognized it as something I used to manufacture, and also was the sculptor. Small World, as they say . So by all means, let me chime in and say buy this stuff, lol. |

Also, we are pleased to announce our shipping and distribution partnership with Scale Creep Miniatures, who will be handling all ODGW product mailing. Mal How do they compare to you great set of rules in play and ease of use? |
| mikeah | 13 Nov 2006 9:31 a.m. PST |
Who cares, I got mine! Looks good, but I'll know when I play them. My standard is SeaPower II/III, which plays fast but had a bit more record keeping (although nothing like SeeKreig) than GQ. |
Mal Wright | 13 Nov 2006 7:42 p.m. PST |
Wertzz. My group are all veterans of GQ I and II. They are absolutely thrilled with them. All the same ease of play, but much more interesting things happen in the battles. The only daunting thing about them is when you look at the size of the rule book and all those charts! There is a tendedency to go YIPE! But when you start reading it and try some of the things out, you can almost feel embarrassed with yourself for taking fright, because the games rattle along and are very easy to play. There is a better feel of what is happening than under the old rules. You know when you hit turrets, damage engines and so forth. All in all my lot were very pleased with the feel of the game, but even more that they could get that feel without too much complication. Mal. Wright. |
