Does anyone make them for 28mm?

Thanks.

CC

PS. I often see the real ones as I drive on freeways and wonder if anyone makes them as defences for modern gaming (and/or for near-future/post-apocalyptic gaming).

Antenocitis makes some:)

I've seen something similar in several cardstock scenery packs. This one is from Worldworks Games Streets of Mayhem pack – you can clearly see the barriers:

picture

Games Workshop had a color blockade template on their web site at one point (don't know if it's still there). They were not quite as close to the pictures as the WWG item above, but they were close (concrete colored, no yellow).

I know I've come across one more, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Also, the Fat Dragon EZ-Heroes set has a nice sheet of concrete grey which if a person had the template, could be traced and cut out to make concrete barriers. Or they could get clever and kitbash the texture so that only the pattern grey remained.

There was a barricade in the Rezolution cardstock set (on the cd) but it turns out that one is textured as metal.

Those would be easy to scratchbuiild. Use some thin hardboard and small triangular basswood, wire for the "handles", cover in fine sand. flat black basecoat and drybrush up through a few greys, some brown for stains, maybe some yellow safety stripes. For under $10, you could make enough to cover a table, and probably get them all done over a long weekend (allowing glue/paint drytime.).

Ainsty (now Old Crow) does them, too.

Depending on how many you need I would go with Ravens Froge suggestion, or making a mould (not from barriers you bought but from a master you build) and casting them in plaster. Which would also give you a way to depict damage easily!

Cheers,

Wartorn Worlds make a nice set of concrete "barricades", though they aren't really centerline traffic barricades like those pictured above…

Buzkashi13 Oct 2006 2:21 a.m. PST

Miniature Building Authority do great concrete barriers and traffic cones

SeattleGamer13 Oct 2006 2:46 a.m. PST

Gypsy … do you know if Wartorn is back in business? For the longest time their website listed nothing (it is an ebay store I believe) and I was thinking that perhaps they folded. They made/make good stuff reasonably priced.

Mark Plant13 Oct 2006 3:18 a.m. PST

Generally ones in place, like on motorways, don't seem to have the handles. That makes them pretty easy to make: perhaps casting in plaster of paris, mixed with a little black paint, would give the correct texture and colour without any extra work.

Red5angel13 Oct 2006 6:16 a.m. PST

I saw a bunch of those last night at my LGS, looked like model train type scenery but they had those and traffic cones packed together.
Frankly though, those are way too easy to make to worry about purchasing. Hell, tell me how many you want, I'll give you a great deal on them, pre painted if you want too. I can whip some up in no time, cast them in resin and ship them out to you in about a week. just email me at red5angel@gmail.com

GypsyComet13 Oct 2006 8:38 a.m. PST

The "Wartorn Worlds" webstore seems to suffer from a bit of neglect, but they were at ConQuest SF last month and apparently doing reasonably well. They should have direct contact info here, since they are/were an advertiser on TMP…

Wartorn Worlds: link

The large pictures at the top don't seem to do anything useful. Hit the categories list (under "walls" in this case) or scroll down to the "New this month" section. The "barricades" are their "Defense System". Good to seperate a street from a sidewalk…

Farstar,

Are these the ones? link

Farstar13 Oct 2006 2:25 p.m. PST

That's them.

stroblight15 Oct 2006 5:28 p.m. PST

Have you seen the Zip Zap racing track. It has 1/64 scale Jersey barriers.

Namuraz16 Oct 2006 12:06 p.m. PST

Miniature Building Authority has the EXACT thing you are looking for:

Thanks for that link CC! Those look very nice.

AT-43, and one of the accessory packs, also contains 6 concrete barricades. I mention this as ou were already asking about their freight containers, were you not?

Cacique Caribe30 Apr 2007 5:24 p.m. PST

Andrew Paul,

Exactly what I had in mind. I can't wait to see what they look like in person.

Cacique, whenever I think I've got too many different projects on the table, I read your posts and feel vindicated!! :) :) You seem to have a LOT of gaming going on!

Cacique Caribe30 Apr 2007 6:20 p.m. PST

Smokeyroan,

I focus more on terrain and some sculps. Both can be done little by little, a few minutes each day.

What I find difficult these days is getting to the game table.

I contacted this seller and, it seems, he makes these Jersey Barriers all the time!

So, in a couple of weeks, I'll be ordering those too.

Cacique Caribe09 May 2007 6:14 a.m. PST

Oh yes, I forgot . . .

That fellow offers both new-looking and "distressed" barriers.

I want mine to definitely have that "distressed" look.

For 15mm gaming, look at what CPT Jake pointed me to:

Fenris games are releasing "Jersey" concrete barriers soon (as in this or next week)

sykoholic00110 Jun 2009 9:42 p.m. PST

Armorcast has these available:

and these:

I really really like Armor cast's Urban Graffiti waterslide transfers. They would go good with the jersey barriers.

PilGrim13 Jun 2009 1:53 a.m. PST

In the UK Games of War in Seaham has a lot of these that were cast up for in store gaming – I'm sure Alan would be happy to cast and sell them if contacted.

Been collecting ice cube trays, seeking good tank traps and Jersey Barriers.

picture

Ice cube trays, WD40 as mold release & quick setting concrete. Should have let cure for a few more days, but I wanted to see the results.

Jersey barriers made with the bottom of "Progressive International Set of 2 Ice Sticks Flexible Ice Trays"

Chaos Tank traps from a novelty tray I ought at a Jewel food store.
Tank traps slight bigger than an inch wide made from a tray found at a garage sale.
Jersey barriers made with the bottom of "Progressive International Set of 2 Ice Sticks Flexible Ice Trays"
1/2" cube-ish blocks from a Bed Bath and Beyond tray. "Cubette Mini Ice Cube Tray".
Columns still curing were from a Walmart "Ice tubes" tray.
