Is there anywhere that sells at discount the better quality 21st Century and CTS figures (and the like) and vehicles? $9.95 USD per tank is a little rich for my blood. (In the USA and mail order)

{$9.95 is a bit rich for my blood. }

Go into 10MM my friend. This isn't a cheap hobby.
Hat 1/72 has two tanks for $9.00 USD but you need to put them together and paint them if your into that. You can get a whole army in a box if you dish out $40 USD for Memoir'44 but it isn't 54mm

I nearly always see discount sales of various 21st century toys and similar vehicles somewhere, whether it be the various online vendors- michtoy.com, classictoysoldiers.com, toysoldierco.com, sdsoldiers.com, or at local toy stores like WalMart or ToysRUs. I don't think theres a single source thats great, it just takes a little looking around and monitoring.

I should have said this is for my kids. They are a few years off from 1/72--I think I made the switch when I was about 12, I just wish I had all my old figures and vehicles in 54mm.

$10 USD is a steal for a prepainted tank at 1:32 thats not a plastic shell. Walmart is selling theirs in the discount rows for about $9 USD each…at least the older ones you have to screw together. Its minimal effort though.

The BMC Sherman is not up to par with any of the Unimax (Valor or 21st) but is a good deal at $8. USD

Or you could not worry about scale and instead use the tried-and-true plastic Timmee M48 Patton. It's about 1/40, or so I've been told, but kids generally don't notice (I've gamed with a lot of them at HMGS cons.)

If they are for kids and you are not concerned about absolute correct scales, Toy R Us and dollar stores generally have big plastic tanks for cheap.
