Looking on the HAT website – I see that the planned Thebans and Spartans are back at the early stages (they were nearly ready a month ago). There's even a note that they've binned the moulds.

Does anyone know why? The sample figures on the website look OK – and yet they've gone back to the start. Can we expect a far better set in the future?

Apparently there was a problem with the mold not fitting together properly. Instead of releasing a questionable product, they chose to redo the mold (strange given the quality of the last few sets released).

Thank you for that – I was hoping that HAT can improve on the sculpting quality for the new versions.

Well, a decade on and still no Hat Spartans. Does anyone know if this would ever happen? The website provides little other than cryptic notes.

Anyone else make 1/72 Spartans of the Peloponesian war period?

HaT's 8045 Greek Mercenaries has 16 figs in exomis tunic and pilos helmet (plus another 8 in pilos and armour) which are OK for Peloponnesian War Spartans if you add or paint long hair and beard and aren't too pedantic about the shield grips.
