I have been collecting information on these across most periods for a while now, including library searches, internet searches, wikipedia and of course contributions on TMP. The results are at link

It seems that a lots of the same questions get asked here and the same replies given – so if you can help me to get all the information in one place then we can direct questions there first.

I don't claim the information I have is exhaustive, but it's a start. I'm particularly interested in figure reviews, I do not have many of the figures I refer to.

I don't get anything for this – I do it for fun ( and because I'm an obsessive who really does have to have the right colour collar piping for Kalmar Regemente on 15th June 1808…)

Finally, how do I crosspost this to all appropriate forums?

Excellent site!

I've been trying for years to get the Perry's to do Swedish Napoleonics in 28mm for years. They just smile at me…

Crossposting options should come up when you start the thread, but use them wisely…

Cheers

i have just bought a load of baccus 6mm swedish troops (pete berry's getting really arsey in his old age!!!) and am really enjoying painting them up. i would reccommend phillip j. Haythornthwaites new book "the napoleonic source book" which is really useful for finding the names of the regiments and the facings etc. it covers most armies fielded in the napoleonic period and covers a lot of ground very well. it costs (roughly) 1/3 of the price as the popular "napoleonic handbook" but contains most of the information thats in there. my one criticism is that old PJ doesnt use enough tables. it really makes it a lot easier to see that the abensberg regiment had green facings and yellow piping or whatever.

pete

Just a heads up…it is my understanding that Sash and Saber will be coming out with 40mm GNW figures in the next year.

Pete – thanks for the review, fully agree with the tables. May go for putting some on the site later.

Thanks Matt – I'm always interested in information on the topic. My email is highlandbevan at yahoo.com. Can you remember which sources you used for it as well?

db – Thanks very much for the info. I have only looked for figures up to 30mm tall so far, I know for example there are many 54mm figures – is there a general demand for this info among wargamers?

Robert, was that Henrik Schou's site?

link

It used to be at napoleonicwars.com, but that no longer operates.

I have a friend that worked at a sweedish uni and he tracked down most of the colour plates you have on your site, also some info on the napoleon series, also i found an officer casualty and prisoner list that I found very useful from the 08/09 war.

A lot of hard material on Danish uniforms is available through their museum. I even got some post cards sent to me of the unifroms of that era.

Back in the 1970s, the 'Little Wars' magazine had a great comprehensive article on the Danish army with a color cover showing them.

The Sedish army the best easy to get info is in the napoleonic Sourcebook.

Great work mate; well done!

Theofanis Inactive Member03 Sep 2006 4:38 p.m. PST

oh you might want to add Fantassin to Napoleonics; they have recently released some very pretty 18mm Swedes.

RudyNelson05 Sep 2006 6:51 a.m. PST

In regards to castings. I have seen the Fantassin Swedes, the Old Glory 15mm Swedes and Old Jacobite Swedes and Danes.

The best specific Danes in 15mm are still the Minifigs/ GFI and they have Swedes which are solid as well.

Any update on the site? Since Geocities no longer hosts free websites, I was hoping to find that you had moved this to another web hosting service. Would love to find info on the Dano-Swedish War of 1808-09, or other Napoleonic conflicts that involve the Danes, Swedes, or other "minor" countries.

Thanks/Tag!

Swampking08 Jan 2012 9:36 a.m. PST

Buckeye,

What kind of info are you looking for? The Dano-Swedish War of 1808 was very intesting with some naval engagements and a Swedish invasion of Norway and a short campaign.

I have info on both the campaign from 1808 and the Norwegian War of 1814. If you're interested, drop me an email and I'll share what I have.

Hi there

Just a couple of lines to say that I have just finished the greens for the first part of a big 28/30mm range of Swedes for Bernadottes army of 1812-1814, they should be released some time this month, if the initial response is good I shall add to the range and possibly add the Danes as well, give Andy Copesake at Old Glory a ring for availability.
This was originally a commission, but we decided to make a general release.
Infantry first, gun crew next then some hussars, around March April.
best regards David (Jacdaw)

Swampking – email sent!

I am hoping to find enough info on battles, uniforms, and organizations to create some unique gaming opportunities.

Jacdaw, very cool that you are having a line done…alas, I want to do this in 15mm for certain!

Swampking11 Jan 2012 2:16 p.m. PST

Buckeye,

First bit of info [on the 1814 campaign] sent. Will send more by the weekend.

Swampking14 Jan 2012 1:55 p.m. PST

Buckeye,

Just sent you another email on the 1808 Norwegian army.

jacdaw13 Aug 2012 8:36 a.m. PST

I can't get the link to work – could you post the actual address?

Swampking15 Aug 2012 12:00 p.m. PST

Green Tiger,

Depending on which link you're talking about – the geocities link has been dead for quite a few years I believe.

Depending on what info you're seeking, you might want to join the Scandinavian Wars Yahoo! group. Great bunch of guys.

Failing that, you can do a google search of various subjects and/or post your queries here. If it regards the Norwegians, you can email me and I'll help as much as time allows:
