Hi, all. I'm running a fantasy gaming camp for children this upcoming week, and for fun I designed a quick play chariot racing game for their amusement one of the days we are playing. It's going to have all the fun bells and whistles you would think might appeal to a group of young men— jumping from chariot to chariot, grappling, shooting arrows, scythe blades, etc. I have bought Italieri's 20mm Egyptian plastic chariots (2 boxes of 12 for the chariots, 1 extra box for casualties and debris). They will work well for the task at hand and I have painted them up nice (yes, I will post pictures of the games as I run them). The thing is, I'd love to expand the game a tad for TRIADCON (in September) and would like a list of possible chariots and wagons in this scale if anyone has them. I can easily run the game as is but am seeking to add chariots from every walk of life (including fantasy, alternative historical periods, etc.) just for fun and variety. Can you help me with some recommendations? The Ancient period (except for Mother Rome) isn't generally my "Lane" as it were, but now that I went through the pain and agony of drawing out a track for this game I'd like to expand the game a bit. Your assistance (in advance) is greatly appreciated. That's ANYTHING in roughly 20mm that would work as a chariot racer— Hussite war wagons, Chinese chariots, Gaulish carts, those big nasty Assyrian jobs, etc. Thanks, Walt |

Atlantic used to produce Roman and Greek chariots, not sure where you can get them these days though |

Italeri have a set of 1/72 Gladiators that includes a four horse chariot , looks quite impressive . I think it would easily convert to a fantasy chariot , and some of the gladiators would make great alternative crews for others . cheers tom |

I confess a partiality for the Zvezda Persian chariot. PVO |

Caesar have released Assyrian, Mitannian and Hittite chariots. Two per box for about $18AU – compared to one in the Italeri Gladiators set or one in the Zvezda/Italeri Persian Cavalry set, both about $12AU – finally there is an Indian Chariot in Lucky Toys' King Porus' Army set, about the same price as Caesar kits (but you get an elephant too!). |

The Atlantic Greek chariot (un-historical 4 horse!) can be found in the Greek Cavalry box reissue. |

G'day Walt, Newline Designs have chariots in metal. There may still be some available from the London War Room. |

HäT is also working on an Assyrian chariot, but it probably has not been released quite yet. Don't forget to check the kit reviews on PSR: link Griefbringer |

Imex are supposed to be bringing out 'Ben Hur' chariots sometime
in a decade or two?? Meanwhile, all the four-horse vehicles currently on the market are much too heavy for racers – for once, the old Atlantic/Nexus single-seater Egyptian job is almost appropriate – only carve a hole out of the chariot side to lighten it, move the axle back and widen the wheel-track, and somehow link it up with a team of four
(Pedantic, moi? well, it all depends what you mean by pedantic
) Anyway, scythed chariots with armoured horses is Well Out of Order! The sport was highly regulated, with massive amounts of betting and political sponsorship involved, and anything TOO dodgy would lead to not so much a Stewards' Enquiry as a full-scale urban riot burning down half the city
On the other hand, a race between the various Greek, Roman, Persian, Egyptian, Assyrian, Hittite etc war chariots should be great fun anyway
