Caption for this photo was in Cyrillic (probably Russian) and consisted of one word spelled B-o-(backwards N with a tilde above)-H-a. Does this say "Bolivia?"

Notice the llama seems to be carrying LAW rounds as well as the rest of the squad's kit. The llama has a certain undeniable charm, regardless. Someone should show this picture to those DARPA guys working on the robotic pack mule. Plus the guys in the picture are smiling. "Hey, Gringo, check out our rockin' llama."

I like. If somebody makes these I could be tempted back into moderns. Something I gave up in the early 60's.

The equipment and bearing looks very IDF to me!
The have designated mountain troops, maybe those are using Lamas as pack animals… I try to see if I can find something about that in my books!

Cheers,

How about Llamas in general? I'd like to see them with various pack, without, and in a couple sizes, since the Llama family has quite a bit of variation.

Write the Dungeon Decor guys. I'd bet they'd crank some out.

Sounds like it's (transliterated) "Voina" or Army. Can you provide a link ot the original page so us Slavic langauge readers can take a stab at the caption?

Foundry has Llamas – unburdened – as part of it's un-released Incan range. I have some packs bought as "pre-releases", so they might be available, but who really knows with Foundry these days.

Irregular might also have something.

Is there a South American update package for Battle Cattle?

PeteMurray31 Jul 2006 11:08 a.m. PST

Quick update: AP Wire has cited these as Israeli llamas.

They are definetily IDF forces; form other description seems they are paratroopers. Pack llamas are a recent addtion ot logistic "vehicle" park of IDF airborne forces.

Hope this link works…. but they sort of go with the lamas idea :o)
