Do they exist? Does anyone make them?

I use a D8 and another die to indicate 1-8 or 9-16. But sure would rather roll just one.

Randall03 Jul 2006 3:42 p.m. PST

Yes, they do exist. Look at advancinghordes.com

Other places probably carry them too, but that's one source that I know of.

doc mcb03 Jul 2006 4:14 p.m. PST

Thanks!!

Can't find a d16 over there, tho they do have 18 sided dice (not with equal sides tho

If all else fails you can always go for a high low d8

Advancing Hordes has Gamescience d16's right here: link

Let me guess: You looked in the "novelty dice" section, huh? They're in the regular "singles and pairs" section. Apparently, Advancing Hordes considers d16 just a normal, everyday die.

Chessex has rounded-edge d16's cheaper, but you have to order through e-mail:

I'd probably go with Gamescience myself. (I admit it: d16 is on my list of things to get someday, when I've run out of useful things to buy. It has obscure AD&D usages.)

I like to use the die level as a measure of current effectiveness, so that a unit may start as a D20 and decline by stages, due to fatigue or losses, to D16 to D12 to D10 to D8 to d6 to D4. So I use 16's a lot.

Say, that *is* a good use of it. I know that some RPGs (Iron Claw in Particular) use varying dice sizes for stats.. For Intelligence, you'd roll a d4, but your Strength is a mighty d12..

GameStation.net also has d16's from both Chessex and Gamescience link

I Knew if I searched I could find a thread with this topic in it!

I am looking for d16 to use in a homebrew RPG to do kind of the reverse of what doc mcb is talking about.

Thanks for the links…Advancing Horde's Store is closed. Chessex seems to be the place to get them.

GameSceince is the manufacturer of the D16

GameScience is in the process of changing ownership … they are being bought by GameStation … here is the current d16 inventory link
