There is a wonderful rumor on the TMP boards that New Wave Miniatures of Alpharetta, GA is finally DEAD and GONE! However, their website is still taking orders (which, based on past experience, will never be filled). Does anyone know the real scoop on this? I have been hoping NW would go the way of the dodo since they ripped me off two years ago (and I have lots of company). I am hoping; please enlighten me. Doctor Tom |

If we continue to propogate this rumor (whether it is true or not) perhaps it will come true. With that in mind
Yes, this is absolutely, without a doubt 100% true. |

Well with everything at 50 to 60 percent off, it is eithe one heck of a sale or it's a good sign they are shutting down. |

Don't they post the phone number on their site? They used to. Why doesn't someone just call to find out if it's true? |

Well, it's late at night, but I rang the number on their site and it was picked up by a fax machine, so at least the number's still in service. |

They're even doing a garage sale
So, I'd say they are folding. As much as I like Cobalt figs and love deal, I'm not buying from these crooks even if that mean their utter, final dismissal. |

Kwailung: "Don't they post the phone number on their site? They used to. Why doesn't someone just call to find out if it's true?" Yup, already did that before I posted. I got the fax machine too. Apparently they are still taking orders at least, but since they often didn't fill their orders even when they were "going strong," I wouldn't count on great order fulfillment now, when they have absolutely nothing to lose (and even less stock than when they were in business, if that is possible). As far as I am concerned, their minis could be one cent a piece and I still wouldn't risk throwing more good money after the bad
. I'll try calling again and again over the next few days. It will be just like old times
.calling new Wave over and over and never getting a response

If not, they should be. They suck! See, they suck so bad I am even willing to be dawghoused to say that they suck. Suck, suck, suck! There are still several miniatures that I ordered from them years ago that they just never sent. I sent them a letter. I called (and no one answered). Finally, my wife just bought me the damn figures to shut me up! |

If they are that how comes they are still listed on TMP..?? How many people does a compnay have to screw up the arse before they are removed..?? If a member had upset as many TMP readers as NewWave have they would of been banned. |

A "dubious trader" alert was issued (I don't recall it ever was defcon 5: BAD TRADER), but I believe Bill did the right thing, they are just LISTED, not sponsored or recommended by TMP's Power That Is. He let all the parts share their parts and the resulting vitriol and spite is the result of NW's actions and inactions. Bill believes and defends the people's right to pass the word. That's fair and just enough, me thinks. |

I ordered some stuff from New Wave three weeks ago. They, of course, did not deliver. I paid via Paypal, and initiated a case against them. Essentially, I asked them to cancel my order and refund my purchase. This was all done via the PayPal Resolution process. So, what did they do last night??? The lead paint eating, cousin lovin' idiots ship something to me. I have not received the box, so no idea if it is a box of coal, or my coveted miniatures. Fortunatley, their web site is "under maintenance", so I doubt they will get any more orders. If the website comes back online, I'd favor a total ban. I will keep you all appraised of what I actually receive from this poor excuse for a business. I am glad that I only placed a small order, and was willing to write off my purchase if these idiots were as bad as I had heard before. Needless to say, they are living up to their lousy reputation. |

and the saga continues. New Wave managed to send only part of my order, and one figure I did not even order. Paypal is getting an earful, and I'm probably going to fill out FBI online fraud and US Post Office fraud complaint forms. Anyone here have experience with Paypal's resolution process? The process seems stuck at "waitning for tracking info update" . Even though the package arrived a few days ago. More updates to follow

The paypal resolution process has not worked for me. All my attempts to contact NEW WAVE have been unsuccessful. I am with Penchour on this one. |

Madbrad, The only time I've had occasion to try to get a refund for something I paid for with Paypal, I skipped their 'resolution' process altogether. You need to go to your credit card company directly (which is what I did). They are ulimately the ones who can take this charge off your account, and will be much more responsive to you than Paypal(I did recieve a refund from my credit card company, no idea what Paypal did or what happened to them). By the way, having spent six years of my life working for a credit card processing company, here's a tip to one and all. ALWAYS use a credit card for online purchases. NEVER use a debit card. Credit cards are a loan from the credit card company to the merchant on your behalf. They then ask you for the funds on a monthly basis. If there is an issue it is THEIR money at stake, and they have teams of lawyers to turn to. You get issued an instant credit while they work out the problem. Debit cards are a direct transation from your checking account to the merchant. The Debit Card company is merely a go-between (a guarantor) shuffling YOUR money. If something goes wrong, it's YOUR money at stake. The funds have already been taken from your account, and now YOU need to file forms and try and get to the bottom of the problem. PayPal is a fine service, but you should use it tied to your Credit Card and NOT your Debit Card or Checking Account. I, frankly, see no good reason to use a debit card, ever, for anything. Use a credit card and pay it off every month, and you have WAY more legal rights and protection at your disposal than a Debit Card will ever get you, and you incur no interest charges. As for New Wave, I can only hope they are truely gone, and that the owners do not simply start up some new company with a fresh name, so they can start their questionable practices all over again on a fresh batch of trusting consumers. |

SeattleGamer makes excellent points! I've never worked in the credit field, but I have run my own successful business, and the same principal applies: you always get better help when it is THEIR money on the line and not yours. Credit card ordering online is the way to go! (That is the ONLY reason New Wave ever resolved the issue the one time I ordered from them, and yes, those rotten deleteds will wait until you cancel your order and ask for a refund, THEN ship you some half-baked partial fulfillment of your order, then argue that they fulfilled their half of the bargain. BURN THEM AT THE STAKE! Thanks for reminding us why credit cards have a good side, SG! Doctor Tom |

Thanks for all the feedback. Paypal essentially told me that "we can't do anything because the order was shipped. We don't care that they did not send what they promised." Caveat Emptor. My credit card company is now on the case, and I'll be filing an FBI online fraud report and with US Post as well. Any idea is going to their local police would be worth the time and trouble? I just want to put every harassment in the world on their doorstep. I suspect at least a part of my money will be coming back to me, as they did actually send a partial order. Still, they are dinks. Big dinks. |
