Any comments on their Thai figures and other ranges? Are they really suited to do "Suriyothai"?
imdb.com/title/tt0290879

What do those Portuguese look like "in the flesh"? Would they mix with Foundry Sea Dogs size-wise?

Thanks.

And what, pray, is a "Suriyothai"?

Pendekar22 Apr 2006 5:06 p.m. PST

Suriyothai is a most excellent Thai language movie as shown by the link in the CCs post…

Watch it if you like cool battle scenes and epic movies. Battles with 1700s Thai warriors, elephants, Portugese mercenaries…

CC,

Thanks for the link! Another period to discuss on TPS?

Cacique Caribe23 Apr 2006 5:09 p.m. PST

Go for it, KC!

I just need some Spanish/Portuguese in tropical attire to face up against the Foundry Sea Dogs, but don't want them to look like pygmies!

CC,

Just wait for Eureka's Portuguese. You won't be sorry.

crhkrebs25 Apr 2006 6:32 a.m. PST

Hi CC and KC,

Good to talk to you again. 2 things:

1) Excuse the ignorance but how different are the Portuguese and the Spanish at this time? Are they from a different time than their Conquistadors?

2) The Eureka conquistadors were sculpted by John Jenkins and are awesome. Will the Portuguese be also done by Mr. Jenkins?

They look pretty much dead-on accurate for the Suriyothai movie. Whether that is in-period accurate is another story.

I don't really know that much about Thai and Burmese armies of the 16th C., but I know a bit about earlier Burmese armies, and some of the dress in TLOS is not really the same as in the sources I have for the Burmese. That could just be movie expediency, or it could be that their dress did change in the … oooh … three HUNDRED year intervening period. :)

Did any one notice the alternate way of elephant warfare practiced by the Thais and Burmese? For instance, my WAB Sassanid army has the typical layout with a mahout sitting on the elephants neck and the warriors on the back of the elephant (with or without a Howdah).

In Suriyothai the combatant sits on the elephants neck with the guy in the howdah sometimes only holding a parasol. Was this really how they fought?

Oh ya great movie by the way. Nice to see the Asian courts were as dangerous a place as their European counterparts.

Hi guys
Ralph all the evidence points to this being true
think of it as heroic combat. The elephant being the equivelent of a charriot

RAJAHPAKDEE23 Mar 2007 2:14 a.m. PST

just very busy,unknown
trying to get stuff done for Salute hope to have at least some initial release for the 18mm range as well as a few cavalry figs for the 25mm range

1954steve23 Mar 2007 5:07 p.m. PST

So we get to see some of your 18mm soon? Will you post some pictures on your site as well?

RAJAHPAKDEE30 Mar 2007 1:02 a.m. PST

Hi Steve
I collected some bits from the Caster and I will be giving some samples to Paul at Baker co ,who will be handling the range next week
I am sure he will be keen to show them on tmp asap
I am sorry but I am completely crap with computers (some would say with designing too"!)so I cannot put up pictures myself
I am hoping that by leaving all aspects of the company to Paul ,I can concentrate my limited time to designing and thereby get more stuff out

Morning Barry

You'll be pleased to know I seem to have cured the "no can send to hotmail" problem.
