When I was a kid I saw a Conan campaign played at two levels at my club (western Suburbs Games Society, then called Parramatta wargames club) There wa a AD&D game where magic played a big role. Plus a campaign played at a Kingdom level with mass armies using WRG 5th/6th edition rules. Magic didn't play a big role in the mass battles, then tended to be a standard ancients game with some magic added to the shoot phase. Low level characters tended to get caught up in bigger events without directly influencing them. High level Characters got to influence the policy of Kingdoms and perhaps lead armies. |

Maxxon. Your point is fair enough. I was about to argue with Rocky Russon on the idea that Shemitish bows ain't Turkic or Mongol but if Howard is consistent in his comparisons then he wins. |

japattern2: so glad you noticed my post amongst these finer points about the range of Semitish bows. I have some figures from the Ral Partha range and they are pretty good quality considering they were sculpted in the late 70's. As you stated they are "true 25s". In addition to Ral Partha Amazon carries the old Garrison Hyborian range which has a decent selection (even som shemitish archers). link I have a few of these and the sculpt quality is not quite up to the Ral Partha level but scale wise they work together well. Hope this helps some. |

MH: Man, I have to get some Shemitish archers. I hear their bows rule the tabletop. Hah! Actually, some of those Garrisons look usable, too. They aren't Rackham, but they aren't bad. |

Wow, I just saw the new GW Dunlendings for Lord of the Rings here: uk.games-workshop.com/news (go to the Sneak Peaks section). My first thought was 'Vanir or Aesir models!', so I remembered this thread and thought I'd share :) |

Old thread, but if anyone comes by looking for a Conan rules set, here's a link to a PDF for Royal Armies of the Hyborean Age from DriveThruRPG: link Only $5.00 USD. Much better than the $100 USD that some ask for an original set on eBay. |
