Who other than Dark Realm and Adler make infantry in this scale? I want to match some classic Battletech normal, non battle armored suited infantry. |

I thought the Ral Partha in-scale infantry weren't, actually, in scale? |

Steve Jackson Games OGRE infantry. Don't know how it matches up with Battletech, though. |

Actually, for some reason, Gladiator doesn't have their 6mm Sci-Fi stuff listed under the link on their page anymore. Not sure why, but have inquired. |

Irregular Miniatures almost certainly have some. |

Hi Guys, There are a number of 6mm sci-fi manufacturers. Gladiator Games have sold their entire 6mm si-fi line to an unnamed buyer. I foresee the line being available to the public sometimes in the next year or so under a new owner / manufacturer. Check out the 6mmSFWG site for links to 6mm scif- manufacturers. It's also a good place to ask aabout anything 6mm sci-fi. link Among the newest manufacturer/s is Dark Realm. I have alink to their web site off of my blog. Check out the links on the right side of my blog to find the URL. 6mm-minis.blogspot.com Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

I'll second gzg.com They have a nice line of 6mm infantry. I have some of the "official" BT infantry, and they are significantly larger than anything else out there in this scale. |

Oh..and the old battletech infantry is top notch too. Really detailed. Sold in easy to clip strips. Not sure if they have be re-released but I bet you could find them on Ebay cheaply. |

Don't forget GW's Epic 40K infantry. There's tons of it on eBay. |
The Demon Hunter | 21 Mar 2006 9:16 p.m. PST |
I always prefered the Epic stuff to the actual BT infantry. As tchristney pointed out, the BT infantry are a bit oversized. |
Judge Doug | 21 Mar 2006 9:21 p.m. PST |
I have some really old BT infantry and they are teeny tiny. I think at some point they were resculpted from 1/285 to around 1/170? or so, as the newer ones I've seen are much larger than my old lead teeny tiny soldiers. |

Ogre Infantry compares favorably to the Battletech Infantry in scale
close enough I can't see any difference between my Davion JI and my Ogre PA. :) |

The OGRE Infantry is 8.5mm tall. I was there when it was sculpted

Oh, a new scale is born
. Don't believe I've heard of 8.5mm before! |
nvdoyle | 22 Mar 2006 7:34 a.m. PST |
Ogre infantry is also battlesuited troopers. They're supposed to be taller than a normal human. Granted, not that much, but it's representative anyway. The game is a half-mile to the inch! |
Judas Iscariot | 22 Mar 2006 10:04 p.m. PST |
nvdoyle is correct. a Battlesuited Trooper is supposed to be between eight and nine feet tall. Even considering that fact they are still really about 1mm too tall, but they will still work with most 6mm minis. Even the OGRE Vehicles themselves are pretty huge for 6mm (1/285 – 1/300) scale figures. Put a Hvy Tank next to an M1, and you will see what I mean. I have been working for some time to get Steve to re-design the minis (Come to think of it
The Sculptor of the line Richard Kerr has been campaigning for the same thing) so that they still have the basic look of the typical OGRE/GEV minis, but they will look more modern.. We have both come up with a concept that it basically called A2 or Mk.2 (As oppoesed to Mk.II, which is an OGRE). So, the tanks would be newer versions of the same vehicles just with a different mk number. Sort of like an M1A2, or A3, or M60A1, A2, or A3. The A2 versions would be slightly lower to the ground, have wider tread bases, and have sides that were lower in profile and more sloping. I have a Paladin GEV that I have modified that I basically just cut a section out of the upper hull (Where it connectects to the skirts), and then smoothed out the skirts, changing their shape from an ACV to a proper GEV (Ground Effect Vehicle). The shape of the "Skirts" is sort of like the bow of a Catamaran. The middile section of the "Skirts" stick out into a more pointed overhead look, and when viewed front-on, the "skirts" have an inverted "V" shape, so that air is pushed from the center out toward the edges. This enables the GEV to "Fly" in ground effect rather than using ACV technology, because, as anyone who has read my comments on ACVs will know
THEY DO NOT make even BAD combat vehicles, much less approaching something that would be a mainline combat vehicle
Anyway, enough of that rant

Scotia Micromodels also have 6mm infantry. Mark |
Weasel | 23 Mar 2006 1:41 a.m. PST |
Of course, in this scale, you could easily use modern day infantry, with suitable paint jobs |

I'd been wondering about Gladiator
I'd gotten some of their Bloodworm aliens and wanted more but wasn't hearing back from then when I asked. Hopefully it's a good thing someone else took them over

Hi Guys, I guess the dirty secret is out
6mm minis have scale creep too! Many "6mm" minis measure over 6mm
often 7 to 8mm or more
And many "10mm" minis measure closer to 12mm
Go figure! Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Well, maybe in the future, they eat more well-balanced meals, so they grow taller, like modern-day humans have since WW II and previously. So, they'll all be Michael Jordan's or Shaq's. |
