Monday Knight Productions offers a 2" hex map, I think (assuming you want a space background). For larger hex maps, you can either make your own (black cloth dotted with white markers) or you might be able to get a GIS firm to plot a hex grid on a repeating starfield graffic you bring in and print out on a plotter. We did this for a WW1 biplane game (google earth map of France at 10000 feet then plotted a hex grid with 4" sides, joined to plots together to get a 5x9" map and then covered with a clear plastic sheet to protect. Quite impressive! Bob in Edmonton |

I think there is a company called BattleMats or something like that who carry what you are looking for. A little time searching google or TMP should get you some results. GL |

I had great success with using ceramic tiles. From Home Depot or Lowes a group of tiles come attached to a webbed backing. You can get the tiles in many sizes. Buy three or four, lay them on your surface, and spray paint them. The hex grid between them allows the paint to transfer. I have a picture of the result here: picture |

Thanks for the suggestions all
Ive found varous Battlemats online and passed on 'em because of the price
the Litko template looks interesting but then again that price is kind of high
I amy try DS6151's idea if I can find the right tiles..if not I will attempt to make my own template

RAFM used to make an iron on transfer of hexes in different sizes. I made a 2" map on a blue flannel sheet for my aerial gaming. Worked great. |
