It is mostly about the Asian steppes. The information is very accurate – Gorelik is a professional artist with a passion for archeology and relies on the most up-to-date research and excavations' data, which are fully referenced in the book. |

The Gorelik book is a different format to the other Montverts with a full page colour illustration on every second page and the text describing it on the opposite page. The only "cossack" I noticed is a 17th C. infantryman. |

The color illustrations are great. I wouldn't give up my copy for anything. |

Specifically, I'm interested in whether Gorelik deals with the teghily (?) or padded kaftan worn by russian troops in the 16-17 Century. The Osprey illustrates this as being a beige colour. As it was simply thick cotton, lined with plates or padding, I wonder if it was only 1 colour or available in practically any colour, as other cotton clothing. Odd question, I know. But most of the TAG Russians are wearing this outfit and the Osprey has me wondering. |
