I'm looking for 15mm sci fi miniatures to play the old GDW Striker rules (I have an idea for them). Can anyone recommend a manufacturer. Thanks Vidal |

I second GZG. I have a bunch of their stuff and it is all very very nice. Quick service too. I get my orders from over there in the UK to the states in about 4 days typically. |

The speed of GZG's shipping boggles the mind, I often have orders from them before I receive my orders from more local sources that I've placed at the same time. and yes, the figs are great. |

I just went down the 15mm Sci-fi path this weekend. Centaur's linked distributor, 15mm-md.com, was attending the Dreamation convention in NJ this past weekend. I picked up about 300 15mm figures of various types. I especially like the HOF range they carry which are the 15mm version of the 28mm Alternative Armies figures: 15mm-md.com/caaa479.htm I'm curious though..how are folks basing their 15mm Sci-fi? I'd like to go with individual bases for ship to ship boarding actions. |

If you're just getting into 15mm sci-fi I would suggest joining the 15mm sci-fi yahoo group. There are lots of ideas for basing and where information on where to buy from etc. Here is the link: link
I base mine individually on pennies. It allows me to use rules systems that require individually based figures and when playing rules where there are multiples per base I simply tack them on the correct size base for the game. I've pre-cut bases for Alien squad leader that are flocked to match the penny bases, so you can't really tell that they are on temporary bases.

For a bit more expense, mount them individually on washers that will stick to a magnet (not all will, by the way). This makes storage easy AND allows them to be based in teams on magnetic bases according to your current choice of game mechanics. |

DLDproductions had a range of 15mm vehicles with an excellent reputatuion for quality. A series of worst-case scenarios saw them out of business for a while, but they are now apparently back. I can't personally recommend them having never seen them, but they might be worth a look. Also, Peter Pig has a small range of scifi troopers in 15MM. |

Vdal, I have been re-writing the Striker rules, and would be still looking for people to help. On the CT-Striker Yahoo group I have a set of Striker III rules that exist in a first draft that can be used with prior CT-Striker Weapons and Vehicle designs (with a small amount of fiddling). I have been trying to get the Book3: Equipment book re-written as well, but I keep stumbling on data for various electronic systems, and upon data for power systems (As the original designers of the system DRASTICALLY underestimated the reduction in size of electronics and the increasingly small and powerful nature of computing
Anyway
) I have finally got most of the info I need for the majority of the systems, and will probably just pull the rest out of the air if I have to (for getting the real playtesting underway)
The rules also do not require 15mm miniatures (they are written so that you can use any scale that you wish), but if you DO use 15mm miniatures. I recommend doing what is recommended and base them upon washers so that you can stick them on the proper sized team bases (The size of those has chhanged for S-III a bit)

I have been basing my 10mm and 15mm singles on .5x.5 inch square pieces of balsa, that I buy in a bag from Hobby Lobby (HL). I base 3 and 4 man fire teams, of the same scale above, on 1x1 inch balsa pieces out of the same assorted bags from HL. If you are playing Striker, as I am, then I am not so sure that a little extra depth of the bases would matter. I try to keep the frontage width close to .5 inch for singles and 1 inch for fire teams. I usually have to fudge on the stand depth on my 18mm HO figures, because of the figure base sizes. If you base your singles on .5x.5 inch squares, then it goes nicely with the starship floorplans when playing with Azhanti High Lightning rules. |

I use Fender washers to base my 15mm guys. I have only been able to pick these up at Sears here in the states. I am sure there are other places, but Lowes and Home Depot don't seem to carry the small size required. As far as places to get 15mm stuff. GZG IMO has the best human troopers. Their Kravaks are really good as well. Old Crow makes some beautiful 15mm vehicles. Dragons Hoard also has some nice stuff, but I am still waiting on a shipment from them (Placed in December). DLD productions has some really nice stuff as well, but they were having computer issues. Once that is resolved I would definately pick stuff up from them. 15mm alien stuff is sort of lacking right now. For other alien stuff you could go with GW scarabs and tomb spiders, GW rippers and Carnifexes. |

GZG is good, as is Alternative Armies, I can also recommend the QRF "Aliens" line, as those are some nice sculpts. |
