The white-and-gold mech robot that has graced the front page of TMP for the last week has finally disappeared from our screens. picture But his alter-egos live on in the gallery of 'photo-shopped' variations done by a few of us over the last couple of days. I thought it would be fun to collate all of the pics so far, so anyone who missed them can enjoy them. And I invite other TMPers to have a go, too. Just one point -no disrespect is meant to he painter of the original. It was just that the pic stuck to our screens for so long! In fact, if this type gallery takes off, I'd gladly submit a pic of one of my own figs for other tMPers to tamper with! Anyway, here are the pics, in alphabetical order of 'artist': Arteis:

While I appreciate and honor the efforts involved, the white and gold robot was a stain upon the face of TMP for far too long and its' removal a cause for loud huzzahs. Huzzah! Let us speak no more of this rather nasty bit of unpleasantness. |

Alas poor Mecha, I knew him well

Hats off to some funny robots! The TMP front page seems kinda empty without him now though
;o( Where is he now? so that we may pilgrimage to Mecha
So how come he was allowed to dominate prime real estate for soo long?
was he painted by the editor or something? tsk! |

I am beging to worry about Mr. Plynkes, just a bit
Liked the Zardoz Mecha, James Bot, and the Napoleon onese probably the best, but they were all enjoyable. I thought the Mech was kinda cute
(of course that could be some perverse side effect of the fact that I find the whole Giant Robot concept a bit dodgy in the first place). |

nycjadie: "I feel bad for the painter
" So did I, which is why I attempted to put a positive spin on my "repaint". -Mel |

I feel bad for the painter
The painter is not offended. |

I am so glad to move on.. I never thought my original post would generate such a unified view from TMPers. The best thing about this group is the huge diversity of opinion. I was surprised to see the univeral hate projected at this picture.. |

"The Editor of TMP The painter is not offended." "Is not offended" is different entirely to "HAS offended". Did it have a name? Can we send flowers? |

I liked it. I think it's okay to hate on the Vulcan as long as you're clever about it. Photoshopping it was clever. |

A Zardoz Mecha !! I feel honoured :-) |

What was that thing on its right arm, anyway? +5 Dustbuster of Doom? |
Lukash | 09 Dec 2005 1:54 p.m. PST |
I think it had dual +5 Dustbusters of Doom, didn't it? For exta sucky-ness. |
Goldwyrm | 09 Dec 2005 1:58 p.m. PST |
The robot's original armament is most certainly the multibarrel salt shaker V.3 and anti-personnel peppermill. |
