"Game Day at the Army Museum" Topic

Before the snow started to fall last Saturday, the 24th, I attended the Game Day at the National Museum of the United States Army near Fort Belvoir in Northern Virginia.
It was a small event, only 9 games. The games were all historical or historically themed. No dwarves or space marines in sight.
Because I only had the morning to play, I signed up for the game of What a Tanker. The GM had some weather related issues earlier in the day so was less prepared than he wanted to be. Nonetheless he rallied and ran a very good game. I enjoyed it enough to go and buy the rules that night.
There were about 60 people in the room and I was really surprised at the number of children and younger adults there. Again, especially since there weren't any dwarves or space marines. There were maybe a dozen older guys there, I guess I am now in that category, but there were even more 30 and 40 year olds and even some younger kids.
Congratulations to the organizers for putting on a fun and well run event.

We used to game at the museum on Fort Lewis. Unfortunately it has been closed.

That is a great museum! I was just there before Christmas. I highly recommend a visit to anyone even remotely interested.

I suspect the museum public affairs staff have been snowed out of the office the past couple days. There were several folks walking around, taking pictures, and doing little interviews. Maybe more will get posted in the coming days.

I thought the venue to be very good and the staff seemed to be very accommodating too.
