link The weapon itself— a Girandoni repeating air rifle— has been discussed before here several years ago, but not the specifics of Lewis and Clark's inspired use of it. I only learned of it recently, and found this article while searching for confirmation of the tale. It is even more incredible that the actual weapon was found by pure chance, and now resides with the US Army! |
