I finally decided to dig into this. I was put off for sometime by the title. No one said the "British Are Coming!" They said the "Regulars are Coming."

Good point, until the Declaration of Independence the colonists were also British?

Almost finished, at battle of Trenton.
In the retreat from NY, Rick tells of traveling through Bethlehem Pa with many sick and wounded needing a place to go.
The Moravians help out reluctantly maybe but still many die while there.
I have been working at Moravian University and after work going to go find a few sites.

Agree – prior to the Revolution (and for some even during) the American colonists thought of themselves as British – the protests in Boston pre-war were about securing the rights of the colonists as Englishmen

Got the first 2 volumes down and now awaiting the third. I love Atkinson's research and writing. If anyone has not read his work get a good dictdionary and a notepad. You'll be amazed, as Reader's Digest used to do a segment, to Increase Your Word Power. H

I am sure the title is marketing more than anything. It has phrase recognition. I would hazard to guess that more copies of this book were bought as gifts for a family member who likes history than by history buffs themselves.

I'm about halfway through the 2nd book. Excellent read, as one would cone to expect. Excellent enough that I'm pulling together some figures for the period. 😊

Amazon is selling the 2bd volume, "The Fate of the Day" for about $25 USD right now, $17 USD less than the price marked on the dust cover.

These books are excellent! I'm enjoying them as rattling good history narratives AND I'm learning a ton of stuff, since the AWI has not been an area I've done a lot of study of, or played games in to any degree.
