When I want to fight a historical SYW battle, I know my rules play out at 12"=1 mile, so I can look through Christopher Duffy's books, and immediately see what battles fit on my card table, and how the terrain should be laid out. Same thing with the Peninsular War, using Oman. (Central Europe is a little trickier, but the frontages in Chandler help.) Soooo, if I know the ground scale of an ACW rules set, what's my go to book or series which tells me what ACW battles are playable for these rules on any given table? This has to be easier than I've found it so far. Thanks. |

You are welcome. Not perfect, but probably as good as you are going to find. |

There is a great series by Brad Butkovitch published by Historical Imagination with detailed scenarios for regimental battles that are scaled to 1 inch is 33 yards. This can easily be adapted to other scales. link Bradly Gottfried's "Maps of Gettysburg" and other Maps of… books in the series are also excellent sources as well. For full scale large battles, I would agree with 79th PA to use the Atlas books he suggested or even the old Time Life books which I used for years. Kim |

All great suggestions. I would.also recommend "Potomac Publications" on Wargames Vault. They do a number of scenario books for regimental and brigade actions….and a lot of the smaller actions are covered….also cavalry based scenarios. |
