As you may know, TMP has suffered multiple technical issues after our server was transferred to a new data center, apparently as part of a merger of hosting services. Many of the problems were eventually fixed, but the major problem remained that the server could not sent automated emails (i.e., verification emails, notices to advertisers). Then the hosting service decided to migrate to a new email system/server. I was of the opinion that this was the worst possible time, while an outstanding bug was still unsolved. But serendipity struck! The migration to the new email server fixed the server email problem. Unfortunately, it caused two new problems: 1. Server emails are being rejected by Google, meaning any gmail accounts or companies that get their email provided by Google. The error message from Google is just a list of possible reasons why, not a specific 'this is what is wrong'. I believe the problem is from gmail's recent security upgrade, and they are rejecting our emails over a configuration error. I have reported this to our hosting service. 2. I cannot currently send or receive email from my TMP email account. The hosting service is trying to figure out what the issue is. I am hopeful that the two new problems will be easier to solve than the original problem. I'm not working on any other bugs at the moment, I don't want to confuse the hosting service with too many bug tickets. They seem quite overloaded. |

I wonder if any of that has anything to so with my problem. I got a new phone. When I open TMP, I cannot get the login button to take me to that page. The button just blinks when I hit it. Same with the button for registering. The other buttons on the side bar wok. I did a hard shut off and tried again. No luck. No trouble logging in any place else. Tom |

We appreciate all of your work, Bill. Thanks for the updates. Central, basic, user functions -- creating threads, making comments -- are working fine. The only minor problem that I saw was the disordered placement of comments, and that stopped very quickly. |

I am still having my Safari problem. I used to Command-Click from the main to bring up a topic in a new tab. Since there is no notification when someone responds on a thread I have to keep any topic I am interested in so I can reload them to interact with people, the the tabs are necessary. Now when I do that I get "This Connection Is Not Private". It is possible to click through two more warning pages. I deleted cookies, restarted the entire computer, the problem persists. Also. some images that belong in the left side bard are appearing superimposed over posts. I am having no problems with the many, many other websites I visit every day. I feel like TMP is becoming harder and harder to use. I wonder how many people have given up. |

And now command-click opens a new tab and images are broken again! I'll just trust that this will work out soon. Edit: now I get the "insecure form" warning again when posting. Feels like I'm switching back and forth between two sets of bugs. |

Has this got anything to do with no new adds? Yes, for several reasons: 1. I can't be in two places at one time, and I have been 100% focused on helping the server people fix the communication problems. 2. Editor Dianna is out sick. 3. For a while, we lost access to upload files to the server (now fixed). 4. Due to the communications issues, we've been unable to email advertisers about Hobby News, or receive emailed instructions and pictures. (PMs still work.) I am still having my Safari problem. I really can't fix problems with Safari. Seems like that should be Apple's responsibility. After all, TMP worked fine on the last version of Safari. I will try to take a look at it when the communications bugs are fixed. These must take priority. |
