"My Dragon Rampant" Topic

These 4 trolls join my wizard as the start of a Dragon Rampant force.
They are Dark Alliance figures- 1/72 scale.
I've never painted Fantasy before & I have enjoyed doing this.

Additionally, I've been experimenting with Citadel contrast paint. It works well.

You did a nice job on them! I dove deep in this plastic range! They were just too nice and in my favorite scale. The Uruk Hai were the first ones I painted. I painted up a box of those trolls for my son's army. They really are excellent figs and priced very nicely! My ultimate goal with this range is to see if I can make it mix with Ral Partha's old fantasy range. I own a lot of the Partha stuff. Dragon Rampant would work well. Or maybe Fantastic Battles. Although I'm already doing FB in 10mm.

John, at this stage, I'm limiting my involvement in fantasy.
What do they say the road to Hell is paved with?

I love Ral Partha but don't own any Fantasy figures. With scale, & remember I'm a beginner in this period, can you be fairly loose about scale? Exactly how big is a dwarf? What size is your giant? etc.

MY DR force will be loosely based on Saruman's forces. I have a Dark Alliance figure of him that can be riding a Warg or more likely a horse.

In general, I enjoy painting (doesn't mean I'm good, sadly) but I'm VERY enthusiastic about painting this force.

TROLLS ! I hates trolls ! last DR game the opponents ice trolls trashed my leezard force. Hopefully I'll get revenge in 3 weeks ? Mebbe not use my leezard weezard on point this time ? <lol>

They look good! I started experimenting with speed paints a few months ago. Really digging them for most things. I still mix in some regular acrylics.

OK, first, yes, I am a horrible human being. I apologize. You post pictures of the trolls you painted, and I see the wizard in the background. I noticed his staff with the cage top. I understand a number of these have been found by archaeologists, who identified as spindles for women to spin thread. Only in the last decade or so have they been re-identified as staffs or magic wands used by shamans in the northern lands for working their spells. So, way cool, good for you, and where can I buy one of these?

I am rather proud of the red bit as it looks like it glows. 10% talent, 90% luck.

The figure was 3d printed by a commercial company I deal with. They're based in Adelaide &, I guess, bought/made the files?

Forgot to metion that it's a beautiful paint job on the trolls And they aren't ice trolls :)
