Here are some Russian buildings I recently completed for my 6mm terrain layouts. Two of these are by GHQ and the other one is by Timecast.

Always Point out that Russian buildings would work for WWII or 1812. Nicely done |

A very good point about suitability for much earlier periods. All I would change is swap the glazed and framed windows for simple shutters. Yer average peasant in 1912 would be hard put to fund a glazier's work. |

At that time, the windows were covered with the membrane of a bull's bladder – a fairly affordable option for peasants. "Glazing" of a Russian home and periods (centuries) of its use:
From left to right: mica, glass, bull's bladder. In fact, such houses (with some variations, of course, but quite similar in appearance) have been used in Russia from the 15th century to the present (in the rural outback).
Log house, but boarded and painted:

Cuprum2, that is fascinating. I meant 1812 not 1912, but I am sure what you said very much applied. Nothing goes to waste, even a bull's bladder! |

Super-nice buildings Pete, and Cuprum2 scores too, with a fascinating window into the arcane world of window coverings. |

Thank you all very much! I appreciate it. Caprum2, I appreciate very much your input here. I did a lot of googling of buildings in Russia and Ukraine as I was doing this project. I even googled windows, believe it or not, to try to get some ideas for frame colors at least. I am working on some more and have 3 more finished. I will post those here soon. |

I think this will help: type in your browser search bar традиционная русская бревенчатая изба or traditional russian log hut |
