I am looking for a few good men (or women). I am hoping that persons interested in this map will "beta test" a copy (help me proof read for spelling, historical accuracy and other concerns.) As much as I hate to admit it, I sometimes make mistakes. Although I have a copy for testing, I am still able to make changes as needed. Anyone want to give it a try? Your valuable feedback is what I'm after. Cheers!

My last post was on Feb 7 and it was posted in the wrong order and dated Feb 6. Has "da bug" struck again? Cheers!

I have finished my 17th century campaign map of Germany. It is based on many maps from the period, modern satellite maps, and historical research. Does the map show all of what is now modern Germany? No. Are there inaccuracies? Probably. The product is a hex map, about 2' by 3'. It is similar to old Avalon Hill board game maps, with the hexes measuring 5/8". Each hex represents between 9 and 10 miles, or about a day's march for unmotivated infantry of the period. Better infantry might manage 2 hexes a day. Major towns and cities, roads, rivers and bridges are indicated along with terrain features. These are also named. I had planned to show a detail of the map but there seems to be a problem linking to the Flickr file. I was able to do this fairly easily before, so I'm guessing there has been a change somewhere. If there are some who are interested, my plan is to share the product, although I will release a lower resolution version to discourage anyone who would try to sell it for profit. I haven't worked out yet how to get the map to the folks who might be interested.
I'm hoping the map will be useful for more strategic movements associated with campaigns in 17th century Germany. It might also be of use for the wars of Louis XIV. (PS. Hooray! I got the image to work. I may have to repost the entire message because I might be a victim of the infamous bug. I know TMP was doing some updating when I made my initial post. Strange thing is I am still able to edit the message several hours later. Is this a new feature?) Cheers! Gallo |

Hello Gallo, I have been interested in this project of yours since you first introduced it about three years ago. Maps have always intrigued me and I served in Germany for three years. I don't know how much – or even if – I can assist, but I'm game (no joke intended). Please contact me by email thru my website ‘Contact' page at thoroughbredmodels.com. Then we can carry on one-to-one if you are interested. I am aware of your concerns about copyright issues and perhaps distribution as well – I have them in my own line of work.
