Can anyone shed some light on when GW is going to resolve their stock issues?

Does anyone know the fate of the Horus Hersey 28mm Forge World line? There are huge gaping holes between what is in the army lists and what models are available. There is even a shortage of some plastic kits. I want to buy GW products but my patience is wearing thin and I am on the verge of purchasing 3d printed knock offs to fill the missing gaps.

Hitman01 Feb 2025 9:47 p.m. PST

I'd go 3d knockoffs. When old world Bretonnia came out, I drove 45 min out of my way to have a staff manager help me place my pre-order on their computer to only receive heartache and pain as my order was not fully received. To receive your money back you need to visit the store in person to show them a form that was emailed to me to take to them. The items are no longer in stock!!! WHAT???

The H Man01 Feb 2025 10:02 p.m. PST

The lizardmen never actually received skink coldone riders.

This isn't new.

I suspect old world players were fighting scalpers for limited edition stuff.

Most of which was, and still is, available on the second hand (sometimes new) market.

I may suspect HH selling less than 40k, so GW not being as interested, while TOW is still coming out, with long time fans still waiting for a bunch of armies to hopefully be rereleased for it in the future.

One is pre made with an instant market, the other they are basically making up as they go and have the expese of moulding and design with no instant market and 40k looming over it.

I recently discovered the armoured astronauts, and they look cool. May get some at some point. But other than that.

And as for epic, the plague looks cool.

I went out of my way to go to the GW store in Madison Wisconsin after a trip to Noble Knight. I was hoping they might have a few things in stock on their shelves. The GW store was closed, no one showed up to open it. I waited for half an hour in case the staff was in the bathroom. In that time four other people showed up and walked away, all lost revenue for GW.

GW has serious issues…

JMcCarroll02 Feb 2025 8:55 a.m. PST

And yet there stock values go up and up. One wonders!

Staffing issues in once store int he US does not constitute a serious issue to a multinational company….

@PZ General

Stock issues however do constitute an issue, combined with Hitman's experience at another store and my experience imply deeper core problems… Read the thread as a whole topic don't cherry pick…

Does anyone know the fate of the Horus Hersey 28mm Forge World line?

Forge World was folded into the GW brand as "expert kits" plus more and more items are becoming plastic vs "Forgeworld Resin"

If you use the "notify me" option on the website you will get an email when the item is available

DG, I read the whole thread. It's GW's very successful strategy to under produce stock. Create artifacts, driving demand. And then just before the demand collapses due to frustration, release new models and rules edition. The process starts over again and profits soar.

As I said, very successful strategy…..

"GW has serious issues"

No, they have a website. And many web stockists.

I suspect they are putting more effort into getting kids than keeping older folk.

He says with TOW out.

But again, that just free money with no effort required. I'm surprised they have put in as much as they have with a good go at the rules as opposed to just a reprint with minor clean up, and the new basing and figures. They are definitely treating it as a very long term product line. Especially with so many armies yet to be rereleased.

The part works must suck a huge amount of production capability.

Between global reach and advertising to regular folk and kids that the partworks do, TOW bringing back fans, with kids now, and all the computer game and tv/film stuff going on, why would they bother with a needy bit on the side?

Dragon Gunner, the same issues you experienced in Madison is the same as those I've experienced with the Nashville, Tennessee GW store. I've gone by there three times to purchase Nuln Oil during advertised business hours, and each time the store has been closed; lights out, doors locked, no sign explaining why. I've given up.

And the store is located in a high-end retail corridor, so the rent must be…um…significant. Doesn't make sense.

Doesn't make sense.

I checked Warhammer Fitchburg (Madison)'s Facebook page. They do close frequently (most of the one person stores go) and FB is the best way (short of calling) to check.

I live in the Toledo Ohio area. Around here, since Covid, that is the story with Fast Food Restaurants. They can't get staffing so they sometimes open or close early. Or…they are open and you sit 20 minutes in the drive thru….

Unless you're dedicated to using only GE figures in a game, get the fancy knockoffs.

The H Man02 Feb 2025 9:00 p.m. PST

Magazines, partworks, word of mouth, movie/tv, computer games, so on, all lead kids to the web site.

It's less space to write a website then a list of local addresses.

The stores don't want you playing there, so people don't go there.

They are now only good for passing traffic or people who found the site/magazine listings and want to see/buy the figures in person.

Basically not many people these days.

In AZ. there are 2 GW retailers here. One in the NE of Phoenix, and one in the SE of Phoenix. Both are open when they say they are generally, and both have decent stock levels…unless GW itself is out of stock. Honestly, I buy most of my GW from independent retailers,Ebay, Amazon etc. but if I don't like a particular model, or I need an "official" model for a tournament, I go for whatever looks coolest. And sometimes that is a 3D printed "counts as". One of the armies I play is Tyranids, and some 3D designs are FAR FAR superior to the "official" models. and half the price.:) Just my .02

If someone makes something equiavalent – in quality – but not so close that they'd get sued..and if it is likely cheaper too….then why not just buy it?

Chances of me ever buying a full price GW Ork – nil. The world is full of very reasonable alternatives.

Dragon Gunner03 Feb 2025 6:00 a.m. PST

I use the GW website (perpetually out of stock)

I use Amazon. (random availability)

I use Ebay ( rarely do I see box kits not assembled / not painted or modded in some way…) Out of print stuff goes for a fortune.

Hobby stores in my experience sometimes are gold mines. (Example the GW website might be out of something but the local hobby store has three copies of the item)

Dragon Gunner03 Feb 2025 9:24 a.m. PST

I just went with 3d printed stuff off Etsy for a fraction of the cost of GW products. GW just lost a couple hundred dollars in sales…

It's ironic that a company that demands brand loyalty in its "official" or tournament games can't be bothered to provide the product to do so.
They're laughing at you, my Sweet Summer Children.

Moonbeast04 Feb 2025 4:49 a.m. PST

You are correct John. It's both ironic and a shame. Generally three factors work against those that have been playing GW games for a long time. One, we have established collections that are painted and actually love them. Two, we don't have the time or energy to sell and start over every time there's a refresh, so we just keep adding to it instead. Three, it's what is most accessible if we want a pick up game in our limited free time. But I suspect that since they keep raising prices it will become a non-issue eventually. You can actually get units that are 3D printed and look indistinguishable from the "real" models once paint is applied. The thing I like (as a player of organic aliens) is that they can take many shapes, so 3D printed is far far cheaper and way more affordable. As long as a unit is relatively recognizable for what it proxies, I'm good. ;)
