As far as accomplishments so far, here is a small list. Some may not see them as such, but they were promises. I'll add he has had talks with both Zelensky and Putin. He has had more and longer press conferences since he became president, then the previous occupant had for months. He takes questions from all, he doesn't look at a list of chosen reporters nor read a bloody teleprompter and still flub it. Not bad for a few days.

If Trump invades Canada, the key will be rapid advances in the opening 48 hours to take advantage of Canada's odd force disposition.
Pure fantasy … Of course, before any talk of the US invasion of Canada should study this campaign during the AWI & War of 1812.

The US & Canada will go to war about the time I start going out with Hollywood starlets.

Several boardgames have previously covered a hypothetical US invasion of Canada or a Canadian civil war, usually in a rather light-hearted manner.
Yes that is the way I remember it …

I see sometimes comments about topics like a US invasion of Canada by those who don't live in North America are amusing or outright some sort of attempt at propaganda.

That being said, there are a number of posts here made by Americans that I agree with. Of course I am an American too … so …

It'll likely be a preemptive attack to prevent Americans dodging the new draft – as he tries to bail out the Mar-o-Lago Militia, which gets hopelessly mired down in the Panama Adventure.

I see gaming possibilities here!

Lilian25 Jan 2025 5:40 a.m. PST

more serious and historically-based than boardgames about invasions of Canada Groenland and Panama it existed several color-coded war plans concerning the following theaters

"red" against British Empire with "crimson" variant for a third invasion of Canada
"green" against Mexico
"indigo" to occupy Danish Iceland
Panama under "gray" (Central America Caribbean) "purple" or "violet" (South and Latin America) war plans

at that time US Army had established color war plans for a quantity of theaters on five continents against others countries, but paradoxically none against communist Russia despite an intervention in the multinational expedition at the end of the Great War

FlyXwire25 Jan 2025 5:44 a.m. PST

I believe the war plan for the current Panama Adventure may be "orange".

So speaking of Hollywood, they say there's already a working title for the expected movie on the Adventure – you guessed it – ORANGE DAWN. :)))

35thOVI Supporting Member of TMP25 Jan 2025 8:25 a.m. PST

🤔

Well then, I guess maybe there comes a time when a little "Agent Orange", is the required remedy for what ails the world.

It can only stay constipated for so long. That's going to be one big pile of💩 😂

FlyXwire25 Jan 2025 9:26 a.m. PST

More than likely why the Miss-Adventure set out from Florida, through the Gulf of America (where it got lost) and into the Caribbean, for a landing at COLON. :)))

However, the operation was fraught from the beginning, not unlike the Bay of Pigs fiasco, more so because it was launched at the height of the Bird Flu epidemic, and this affected the manufactured supply of B-rations (breakfast burritos) that were the militia's favorite staple, and which the units were literally expected to move on.

Hearing that the leading elements, those from the Lady M. Battalion, were knee-deep at the coast, the princess herself came up with the solution – Let them eat cake!

Soon ICE flights were rerouted to drop pallets full of Little Debbie's snacks to the militia, and these would be followed up by Bezos Barges positioning provisions right into the Colon area.

The Mar-o-Lago Militia forces now began to move smoothly inland…….

Legion how have your numerous Hollywood romances going?
Can't say, they don't want us to show up in the media, People Magazine, etc. Our dalliances must remain very much TS … 🤩😏

at that time US Army had established color war plans for a quantity of theaters on five continents against others countries, but paradoxically none against communist Russia despite an intervention in the multinational expedition at the end of the Great War
The US Military has OPLANs for many, many scenarios, worldwide. And other events, almost all TS+. E.g. OPLANs/Protocols for even 1st Contact and/or invasions of EBEs/ETs. Sounds like Sci-fi, but as tech improves, time passes, etc. there becomes more things that can occur. Whether we like it or not …

Albeit many don't know of the US Army's part in the multinational expedition into Communist Russia after WWI. I served '84-'85, in one of the Rgts whose history includes those ops in Russia at the end of WWI. 1st Bn/31st INF Rgt, whose nickname was the "Polar Bears". Because of their ops in Russia.

That being sad, in my time in the US Army, '79-'90. We, plus NATO spent most of our time training/planning, etc. to defend Western Europe. If the Russians + their WP allies, crossed the IGB, etc. Also note, the OPLAN was only to reestablish the IGB. We were not told we would invade Russian territory. With lessons learned from Napoleon and WWII, that would be a bad move.

Also note, many of former WP nations are now part of NATO.

However, we never heard of an OPLAN to push into East Germany on to Berlin. To rescue the NATO Berlin Bde if WWIII broke out. I'm pretty sure there was an OPLAN for that. But so much was and is classified.

I believe the war plan for the current Panama Adventure may be "orange".
Now I think it changed to OPLAN Melania…

FlyXwire25 Jan 2025 10:11 a.m. PST

Definitely, but as it was called in the hallowed bowels of the compound and lower nerve center – Melania's Miss-Adventure (above).

The whole operation was inspired by an obsolete war plan from the 1st administration, which was hidden in the bowels because of some lose cannon, and largely because it had actually been read by Agent Orange.

FlyXwire25 Jan 2025 1:35 p.m. PST

The record of the first Panama Adventure engagement that occurred was just inside the port of Colon, and is still somewhat confusing. All the Ops' financing was hidden as "Retainer Expenses" at Capitol South, or Capital South as it were (as lawyering fees, with actual transfers likely coming from GofundMe campaigns, bitcoin derivatives, etc.). The ill-gotten consequence of this private war funding; there was no Free Press allowed, and the paid-for militia news was useless at reporting, let alone following a story involving real bullets flying.

The initial Mar-o-Lago Militia units to engage may have been from the First Lady Bn. (Me-1st), or from the Kings Own America First 2nd Bn. (KOAF-II, or Me-1st 2). What is certain, is the opposition forces were not Panamanian regulars or security forces, but airsick, irate Guatemalan men and women spoiling for a street fight (aka The Refugees).

Unfortunately for the militia, ravaged by the bird flu, suffering with dysentery from bad water, spicey local food, and Little Debbie's, all still wearing their ubiquitous red hats – things would not go well.

FlyXwire25 Jan 2025 3:27 p.m. PST

Well, please let me return this thread to the OP and his direct respondents here.

I've dabbled at this Imagi-Nation misadventure for the fun of it (mine) long enough. Honestly, I've actually looked into some 28mm figures that could fit for some of the contingents, and amongst a few select friends, we could have a good time 'Fighting over Panama', and with an imagined "Take The Canal Back" zeal.

Could never happen anyway, right.

If curious, the following setting could be another one of those Imagi-Nation situations, but with a 19th century slant – one could consider the Filibuster Movement prior to the American Civil War.

link

The sympathetic "press", "masculinity" and "martial manhood" – of course spreading slavery. Masculinity and manhood, well don't politicians write books about that even today.

If I ever move on my Panama Adventure gaming, I will never let that Agent Orange militia actually win.

They might have taken the canal back between 2020 and 2024, but the US couldn't figure out who was in charge then. They asked the old guy in the White House as he was walking away from the cameras, but he had no idea either.

You could add liberal relief divisions to your game to support the "Panamac-anal" forces. The Obamas could form a division. Of course Michelle would lead it, as she is the one wearing the pants in the family. Or a "Legion of Feminazies", wearing those lovely pink 'pu#sy hats', popularized in 2020 protests. Possibly the mayor of San Francisco or the Governor could raise the elite "Queen Berets". Their uniforms are "to die for!" I hear (Actually they already have a ballad of their own, to the tune of the "Green Berets" by Pinkard and Bowden).

You could even have a die roll to see if JB leads the lib troops from NE. If he does, a roll of 1,2,3,4,5,6 on a 6 sided die and they end up marching off to Canada. 🇨🇦

🤔whoa! Maybe that is how this thread got started. 😳

Your move, Trudeau -- Mexico just bailed on you!

Mexico just cut a deal with the US to send 10,000 troops to help secure the US-Mexico border to crack down on illegal immigration and drug trafficking AND arrested a cartel leader. In response, the US has paused tariffs on Mexico.

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP03 Feb 2025 12:46 p.m. PST

With the border relatively quiet for now, it will be hard to judge this. The army is not unaffected by corruption and ties to criminal factions. They may have little interest in this job. I think they may make little difference, and it was not enough from Mexico. If you are threatening to put the US and Mexican economies at risk, you should get more than this

I thought Trudeau already made his move. New energy and food tariffs from him among other things.

Glad to see something happening, but the tariff thing puts the US at risk for higher prices.

I thought Trudeau already made his move. New energy and food tariffs from him among other things.

Trudeau doesn't know what the hell he's doing. First he runs to Mar a Largo to kiss Trump's ring. Then he scurries back to Canada where his lefty base slams him, so he recants and slams Trump. Them Trump announces possible tariffs to encourage behavior to stop cross-border drugs and illegals and Trudeau makes some weak accommodationist remarks -- but then Mexico's president says "Never!" and then Trudeau pretends to get a spine when his lefty base says "Never!" and he goes on a propaganda tough guy schtick and pumps up Canadian nationalism…and now Mexico is cooperating to help block drugs and illegals while out of step Trudeau is once again out of step.

None of this makes any sense to me -- why not have just said as good neighbors and trade partners we will of course work to make our common border more secure??

35thOVI Supporting Member of TMP03 Feb 2025 1:41 p.m. PST

Mexico:

"1. Mexico will immediately reinforce the northern border with 10,000 members of the National Guard to prevent drug trafficking from Mexico to the United States, particularly fentanyl.

2. The United States is committed to working to prevent the trafficking of high-powered weapons to Mexico.

3. Our teams will begin working today on two fronts: security and trade.

4. They are pausing tariffs for one month from now."

"They" is the US.

Let's go with the 'what if?'

Interestingly, Russia's military was seen as formidable UNTIL they invaded the Ukraine. Now, Russia is seen as a paper tiger.

There's a real chance the US's military incursion into Canada would have the same result. The previous historical attempts support this. And the US's track record in modern warfare isn't exactly stellar. Afghanistan, anyone?

And there's the question of alliances.
Russia & China have few allies & none are very worthwhile eg China & North Korea. A country that can't even feed its people….
The US *currently* has allies everywhere. Formidable & useful states and organisations. This is a source of its power. You mess with this & the alliances might fade.

Even in OZ, some are weighing whether Australia might be better off with China….at least to a degree.
link

According to some, it's a case of which authoritarian regime you want to cosy up to. My opinion? I'd eschew the Yanks & the Chinese & align with – even join – the EU if it were possible. The US is too volatile & undependable IMO.

All of this might just be a bargaining chip, of course…..

First Columbia, than Venezuela, than Panama, Mexico and now Canada

"Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Monday afternoon a deal had been reached averting US tariffs and Canadian retaliation for at least 30 days.

Trudeau said Canada had agreed to go ahead with a $1.3 USD-billion border plan it had already drawn up, alongside fresh measures aimed at securing the Canada-US border.

"Canada is making new commitments to appoint a fentanyl czar, we will list cartels as terrorists, ensure 24/7 eyes on the border, launch a Canada-US joint strike force to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering," Trudeau wrote online.

"I have also signed a new intelligence directive on organized crime and fentanyl and we will be backing it with $200 USD million."

He said the proposed tariffs would be "paused for at least 30 days while we work together.""

Not too happy with the Mexican National Guard. The Army would have been better, but I don't get a good vibe about this.

As for Canada this all feels a little a staged negotiation, neither side could actually afford Trump's threat as he has been advised repeatedly. No big results, but maybe the restart with our big partners is the real outcome Trump wanted.

Nine pound round03 Feb 2025 6:15 p.m. PST

Hmm- I see, now that I have been prompted to reread it, that your – pardon me – rather diarrheal fantasy post trying to imagine sources of potential American defeat did include a reference to you being from "Oz" at the end, which I gather means you're Australian.

The thing is, I never read that part, because I stopped at that piece of arrant nonsense masquerading as analysis where you said, "There's a real chance the U.S's military incursion into Canada would have the same result." Really, once a person has written something like that, it's hard to imagine any kind of serious or knowledgeable discussion following it. That's because, as I said earlier in this thread, the United States will never invade Canada. It simply won't; it's unthinkable, and people who talk as if it is really don't understand either country, nor the relationship between them. And that did not suggest that better analysis would follow. Having read it, I don't see a reason to revise that initial conclusion.

So yeah, you may have told somebody- but I had exercised my right to use my time more profitably long before I got to the point that you could be said to be talking to me.

But perhaps you are right. Perhaps the day may come when the fleet we had hoped to rely upon will be sunk, the great bases we relied on as bastions of security will be in enemy hands, our neighbors invaded, our troops taken prisoner; and maybe then, we will squeal.

But we haven't yet- and if you know any history at all, you'll know what nation and what situation I'm describing even without the names- and you'll no doubt remember that it was American soldiers, planes and ships that came to Australia's aid in 1942.

And you know what? When I read your posts- and this is not the first time I've seen them – they amply justify my belief that people like you will never forgive the US for having helped save them.

Personal logo ochoin Supporting Member of TMP03 Feb 2025 6:21 p.m. PST

"What if"? You might re-read *that* post again to actually comprehend it fully. "Hunt & peck" reading is not conducive for full comprehension.

Leaf Fan was certainly pilloried for taking it too seriously.

"And you know what? When I read your posts- and this is not the first time I've seen them on- they amply justify my belief that people like you will never forgive the US for having helped save them."

President Nayib Bukele 'has agreed to the most unprecedented, extraordinary, extraordinary migratory agreement anywhere in the world,' Rubio said.

'He's also offered to do the same for dangerous criminals currently in custody and serving their sentence in the United States even though they're U.S. citizens or legal residents.'

Rubio was visiting El Salvador on Monday to press a friendly government to do more to meet Trump administration demands for a major crackdown on immigration amid turmoil in Washington over the status of the government's main foreign development agency.

'President Bukele agreed to take back all Salvadoran MS-13 gang members who are in the United States unlawfully. He also promised to accept and incarcerate violent illegal immigrants, including members of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang, but also criminal illegal migrants from any country,' State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a statement.

'And in an extraordinary gesture never before extended by any country, President Bukele offered to house in his jails dangerous American criminals, including U.S. citizens and legal residents,' Bruce added.

Bruce called it a 'tremendously successful meeting that will make both countries stronger, safer, and more prosperous.'

Rubio arrived in San Salvador shortly after watching a U.S.-funded deportation flight with 43 migrants leave from Panama for Colombia.

hat came a day after Rubio delivered a warning to Panama that unless the government moved immediately to reduce or eliminate China's presence at the Panama Canal, the U.S. would act to do so."
