Has anyone ordered from Flag Dude recently?

His website still has an active email address linked to Paypal, and his flag listings are all still up.

The most recent update he posted is from the spring of 2023. He mentions having some health issues he was getting adressed, but that he was also still taking orders and I believe was still doing conventions.

I placed an order with him last week, sent money right to the Paypal adress. But I got no confirmation or communication from him saying it was received or that it was in process.

I did receive Paypal's confirmation of the transaction, but that's automated.

I saw him at Historicon.

I purchased a few flags from him at Historicon.

Isn't his superpower not communicating with customers?

Baranovich14 Oct 2024 8:07 p.m. PST

Ah ok, thanks for the responses folks, much appreciated. Glad to know he's still up and running and apparently doing better health-wise!

He's on the list to be present as a vendor at Fall In in a few weeks.

So it's been over a week since I placed the order. And nothing but crickets. Does he just not communicate as an MO? I have no idea if he's even aware. I assume he checks his Paypal since that's how he gets paid online?

What I don't understand is that all a flag order requires is to print the flag out and put in an envelope and put a stamp on it!

…What's doubly annoying is that on his website he has a page where youncan send himna message. But the image verification icon is broken and you can't type anything to verify!

It's genuinely my biggest pet peeve to send someone money and they can't even tell you they recieved it or that the order is being processed.

This is like comm. 101. How can you run a business like this?

He hasn't been doing mail order for years. Why he keeps his website going like some kind of Venus flytrap is beyond me or maybe that's how he makes his car payments. Apparently you can only buy from him in person at conventions. I have long since switched to GMB and haven't looked back.

Baranovich20 Oct 2024 9:23 p.m. PST

@Old Contemptible,

OMG thank you!!! That is beyond outrageous! I mean, the website is literally up and running, and you can send him money via Paypal. There is NOTHING on his site informing anyone that he stopped accepting orders online.

Like you, I've gotten the vast majority of my flags from GMB and Flags of War, who both provide awesome communication and customer service.

This was the first time I attempted to order from Flag Dude because it was an AWI flag in 28mm that I simply couldn't find anywhere else. I think I'll get a refund from Paypal and then try to find the flag elsewhere.

Thanks again!

If you had a solid relationship with someone attending Fall In you could ask him/her/them/it/pomegranate to swing by and ask if Dude had the desired flag on hand and try to buy "flaggo a flaggo."

@HMS Exeter,

Unfortunately I don't really know anyone I could connect with to do that.

I don't mean anything personal against the guy, I'm sure he's a fine fellow and very affable.

Just needs to up his communication game, lol.

Flag Dude was a no show at Fall In anyway. The Flag Dude location in the dealer hall was empty all weekend. I was looking to make purchases "in person" as my emails have gone unanswered

I looked for him also because I was hoping to purchase some more ACW flags
and unfortunately he wasn't there. I hope he is okay.

You just have to find him at a convention. It's the only way to unfortunately. He' a great guy, super friendly and has excellent flags but no real online presence.

Disco Joe06 Nov 2024 3:52 p.m. PST

Since he was listed as going to be there I was looking for him but he didn't show up.
