Hello all,

Why is Warhammer … aka … Games Workshop out of stock in so much of its inventory?
I looked at all or most at least of its lines of miniatures and they are saying "temporarily out of stock" for quite a few of they're offerings.
I am a LOTR fan and some miniatures have been "temporarily out of stock" for a long time. I am aware that they may be phasing out this faction of they're gaming industry but this inventory issue seems to cut across all of its products. Is it a residue of the covid supply chain problems ?

It is scalpers on eBay and artificial scarcity to support the outrageous prices that they charge for their products. When they start charging more for 4 8mm tanks then Battlefront does for 5 15mm tanks that can be the only answer I can think of.

GW is having a lot of supply issues across the board. There was issues with their US warehouse & shipping, etc. GW every few years has this same issue, where demand vs supply estimates are optimistic, to say the least. So they underproduce. Its old news.

I've seen some rumors that the issues with the Houthis threatening shipping in the Red Sea is also having an impact, but I can't verify that.

Damon.

My local gaming retailer tells me the US warehouse/distribution center was locked down for some time by extreme weather, and is having a hard time finding people to pick stock. (No one suggested offering more money.) So they expect to get caught up, but no one's setting a date. Meantime, the store has three paint orders in with them, and I bought last bottle of Abaddon Black--indeed, the next to last bottle of black paint of any manufacture--in what is normally a well-stocked store.

I can only guess. For being the 900lb gorilla, their production capacity is rather small. I'm sure priority goes to the stuff that sells.

Last year's financial report said their factories were running at capacity (5x24) and this year they have started exploring starting a third. Right now Warhammer is still riding the post COVID popularity wave and GW can't make enough to meet demand.

Last summer GW released 10th edition 40K and they made enough of Leviathan boxes and it do doubt strained and reduced output of everything else.

New factories and new employees cost money and hurt the bottom line and could become a liability if the market sours. Honestly selling out is the best way to go and I would reduce demand by raising prices
