Iranian guy interviewed after he crossed the border -- interesting, doesn't sound typical. But he points out that most of the people coming across that he crossed with are single young men of military age -- not families with kids. He said it was easy -- Iran to Turkey, Turkey to Mexico, Mexico into the US.

"What they gonna do when you have a recession?"

Exactly my point.

As I said: wave a red cape and shout: Ole!! As the illegals run by. 🙂

You becoming quite an expert on this topic, 35th!

These are my thoughts on this guy, opinions on his status. His English indicates to me that he has almost certainly already spent time in the US, possibly a student. He is well spoken. His political views appear right wing US domestic. Trump actually deported fewer people than Obama. Trump global approval ratings set record lows during his time in office according to Pew, while trust in the US rose back under Biden and remains over 50%. So his view of Biden as a terrible threat to the world comes from where? His view of Islam as a political ideology is a personal belief.
He seems well educated. What is he doing there? He could have flown in most anywhere with a passport unless he is on a watchlist. And most watchlist terrorists still come via the northern route. Although more are using the southern border than a year or two ago. His nationality means he would need to be screened carefully, IMO. Is he a threat? Make sure one way or the other.

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP06 Jan 2024 11:54 a.m. PST

The whole recession idea just keeps rolling along in some circles. I don't really get it. I am no economist, but Christmas spending was good, consumer spending and investment confidence good, GDP up, stock market records set, wages climbing, inflation dropping, interest rates set to drop in March, job creation high, unemployment rate 3.7%.

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP06 Jan 2024 3:21 p.m. PST

Yes, the numbers are undeniable and staggering. It is hard to imagine that this has gone unaddressed these last couple of years. Ironically almost no chance now to fix it this year with the election and divided government. Most people want this addressed asap.

35thOVI Supporting Member of TMP06 Jan 2024 3:28 p.m. PST

On that we do agree. 😉

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP06 Jan 2024 3:41 p.m. PST

I have coached a number of Iranian student athletes at the college level and never heard the opinions this guy has. They have been through visa hell, but I doubt that any of them would come to the US illegally. They are trying to make something of themselves.

SBminisguy06 Jan 2024 4:52 p.m. PST

<a>And most watchlist terrorists still come via the northern route

You have no idea if this is true. Our southern border is Open Door and millions of people about whom we know nothing have entered illegally. We don't know good from bad, healthy from the next Patient Zero, lawful from terrorist. Totally insane and duicidal.

Ned Ludd06 Jan 2024 5:13 p.m. PST

In the next two months or so I will be setting off to enter the us. If things go according to plan I will be getting into Mexico by the end of March and looking to cross the border when a chance presents itself, I can not be sure of a date. But early April all been well. Are there any of you that I can head for in the Texas, New Mexico area that could put me up for maybe a few weeks until I can head on to New York? I would be very gratefull.

OVI +1 !

Iranian national who crossed illegally
Was he here to go to Disneyland ?

points out that most of the people coming across that he crossed with are single young men of military age
Hmmm ? Who would have thought ? See being an old former Grunt, this to me is a really bad thing. Once the border is closed, hopefully in 2024. These single military age males should be the first rounded up by ICE, etc., and sent back to where they came from. They will prove to be the biggest threat, IMO. Unless they all came here to catch a Dodgers game and want to go to, KFC, BK, etc.

Ned if you make it across the border, and most do. I suggest you take a tour of the USA's Sancturary cities. E.g. NYC, Chicago and LA. Now that will be a more of a challenge then crossing the border. And there is a good chance of being, e.g. robbed, murdered, etc. Just a helpful hint from someone who lives here. Good Luck …

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP06 Jan 2024 7:22 p.m. PST

SB you are right. We only know that we catch more of them on the northern border. Thats not the same as how many get across. But this is only people on the watchlist. We may never know how much trouble has come our way from Mexico. It will take some money to shut down the southern border, which is job number one. With these numbers, every day matters. I have no faith in POTUS or Congress.

Ned if you are crossing the Darien Gap you will not be here in April. If you go to Florida, maybe they will fly you to Martha's Vineyard.

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP06 Jan 2024 7:26 p.m. PST

Legion 1+ I don' think he came to give us his political views was my point. The Iranians I have met came through customs. An Iranian on the southern border needs to be interrogated.

Been to the Darien Jungle 3 times with the 101. Ned, you won't like it. And the monkeys throw their 💩 at you …

An Iranian on the southern border needs to be interrogated.
Yes thoroughly interrogated, and most likely should be sent to e.g. Gitmo. As all those on the terrorist watch list that are caught should. The weather is nice this time of year.

Someone needs to tell our top leaders, and I'll make it simple for them – Terrorist on watch list = bad. See if illegal aliens, criminals, terrorists, etc. see they may be going to Gitmo or some other proper internment maybe they will get the idea. Don't go away mad … just go away …

Yikes Legion, Darien must have been some experience!

SBminisguy12 Jan 2024 9:00 a.m. PST

The illegal immigration flash point:

1. Federal ICE has dismantled the southern US border
2. Border states are being overwhelmed by mass unstrained illegal migration flows encouraged and organized by NGOs and the Biden Admin
3. Border States have tried putting their own border defenses into place to slow the flow, citing the need to enforce Federal law
4. The Biden DOJ sued the States to prevent them from enforcing Federal immigration law
5. States passed their own border crossing laws to slow the flow and Texas put up fencing and barbed wire
6. The Biden DOJ sued the States to prevent them from enforcing State law AND Federal Border Patrol started to dismantle border protections
7. Texas has moved National Guard to secure one of the heaviest illegal border crossing points, ejecting Federal Border Patrol agents

So what next, Team Obama/Biden?

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP12 Jan 2024 12:16 p.m. PST

Yikes Legion, Darien must have been some experience!
We only were there for about a month and another unit replaced us. That was SOP. In the end we were all designated "Jungle Experts" and were given a patch for our uniform. Albeit it was not very highly regarded like a Ranger or SF Tab.

Regardless were inserted by helicopters[UH-1s], LCMs, rubber boats[RB-15s] or even on one rotation USN PCFs. We were on the ground only about 24-72 hours. Our FTXs we were running recons, ambushes, etc. And some other rather "challenging" training.

I can't imagine anyone without training and some sort of external support. Could go very far for very long. They have had to move from village to village or town to town. Which I believe they did. To get some sort of support.

SB +1 The gov't sanctioned open border, will prove to be a massive error. 10-12 million illegal aliens have entered the US. My home state Ohio has a population of about 12 million, + or -.
Ohio has the 7th largest state population in the US.

So the US gov't has effectively added another state's worth or people. Sanctuary cities[IMO a very bad idea!] are having a very hard time trying to feed, house, etc. all of them. The US Gov't has created a humanitarian crisis all by themselves. Along with trashing many border towns, farms, ranches, etc. increasing drugs, human trafficking, crime etc. crossing into the USA.

Didn't someone say something about "fundamentally changing America" … I kind'a of like the culture, etc. of the USA. It needs some work. But I don't want to become the USSA and I'm a minority as an American in my own country …

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP12 Jan 2024 1:01 p.m. PST

I am worried about the practical aspects of this. I would like to see immigration laws finally. They would establish border security, set a quota based on our own resources, screening, and eligibility. Make some laws and get this out of the hands of screaming politicians who only want it to continue for their own personal campaigns.

As long as both political parties are making hay from this it will never change. I don't want it to go back to the last administration or the one before that. I don't buy any claims based on the numbers, it was always a mess, just fewer migrants then. No wall, no system, all done with bandaids and mirrors.

This Congress refuses to provide requested funds for the border. It is historic in its lack of accomplishments. New faces before there will be new laws.

35thOVI Supporting Member of TMP12 Jan 2024 1:21 p.m. PST

Tort, just asking, why should any money be allocated for the border, if the first thing done is not to close it down? If it just goes for more officers to process more through faster and judges to ok them in, what good? I'm not trying to be nasty, I'm just fed up with 8 to 15 millions illegals in just over 3 years and all the cost and problems they entail.

The borders must be closed down. Place troops there to help close them. NO EXCEPTIONS. The President has to act. No more illegals. Then allocate money to find them and ship them back. Increase legal immigration and let them try and go through the proper processes. Temporarily visa for workers who fill jobs, but they must be monitored.

Just one of these, caused by illegals, is one too many. And there are far more than one… far far more. Drunk driving, murder, rape.. none of which would have happened if we had that border closed.

Only an error if you're not a Democrat who thinks they can tap those 12 million illegal aliens for votes to keep themselves in power forever…

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP13 Jan 2024 3:28 p.m. PST

But the other party IS in power, feeding their campaigns off the crisis. Pass just one bill. Every bundle of money includes the parameters for which it can be spent. Where is the Border Closure Act? (I made that up). Biden asked for 4 billion. Never even got to the floor. Give it to him with the stipulation that he first stabilize border security with it. Include an actual plan. Will never happen…

How about a solution from Congress via legislation? "Close the border" is not a policy. What are the specific actions? Clueless….

Meanwhile, we seem to have cut and run on Ukraine. Maybe Putin knew all along….

SB+1 This such an egregious and obvious action that is has to be planned not just an accident. I guess all those drugs that are smuggled using the masses of illegal aliens as cover. That kills thousands of American citizens … guess they don't count ?

Or the sex slaves the cartels smuggle in … those lives don't count either ?

Are all these lives to be considered collateral damage to getting one side's goal for total power ?

The Red Cross is using public funding to coordinate with a range of Open Society and UN-funded groups to organize and manage mass illegal migration flows. Here's from their website, and what caused some GOP to actually try and block Red Cross funding.

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2024 7:38 a.m. PST

How about a border closing plan with dedicated funds? Sure it might be altered, that's how it works. Gaetz, what's YOUR plan?

Yes it's a narrow majority. But it is still a majority. They have the wheel, they are part of the governing process. Why sit on your hands?

Is there an outside leader controlling this historic lack of governance? The lack of funding for the Ukraine military makes me wonder. Is there really that much difference between stopping Putin or stopping Hamas? No border legislation. What is really going on here?

SBminisguy14 Jan 2024 9:58 a.m. PST

What is really going on here?

Great question, which is at the heart of a lot of my pushback on Ukraine and other things.

For example, Ukraine – it's not in our interests to let Russia conquer Ukraine and think it can build empire. What the normal historical response would have been was to rush aid to Ukraine, slap heavy sanctions on Russia, mobilize political support against Russia and THEN negotiate a cease fire and some kind of peace deal that restores relative order.

The political response was more over the top than I think constructive, and we did the part about rushing billions of $$ and aid to Ukraine happened -- but not the peace part. Why not? In whose interest is a bloody, expensive, prolonged war in Ukraine?

Same thing with the Border issue. What's happening is not normal, it is a deliberate policy of the Biden/Democrats and the GOP Establishment is letting it happen. Why?

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2024 10:23 a.m. PST

At this point I am starting to think about Ukraine and whether a negotiated peace was the best option earlier on. But with Ukraine effectively cut off from US aid, there will be no choice. No one benefits more than Putin.

My conspiracy theory is as valid as others here. There will be no governing activity around Ukraine or the border, as the House gets its marching orders from this year's candidate and they all benefit from no progress for the US.

So, why is Hamas different from Putin?

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2024 10:47 a.m. PST

Once again, the Gov't made human crisis shows that illegal aliens, most that don't qualify for asylum, etc. are taking things away from Americans. Or IMO more importantly supporting Ukraine pushing the Russians off their land. If Putin wins it will signal to Xi. The US/NATO will stop supporting Ukraine. May demonstrate to the USA's enemies when the going gets "tuff" … the USA is not a reliable ally.

Again, we and our enemies see the USA's top leadership lacks the ability to properly prioritize. E.g. the Gov't sanctioned open border is take $ that could be better used elsewhere.

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2024 3:44 p.m. PST

35th, whatI am saying is that when Congress authorizes a spending bill, the parameters are locked in. The money can only be spent as designated. So if Matt Gaetz knows that we are doing things wrong and wants to fix it, pass a bill with specific actions to be taken.

This will never happen though, the big man gives the orders. Doing nothing is the policy. The election is the goal. Not governing. It's a stranglehold. The government can barely get funded for everyday operations. The big winner here is Putin, resting and rearming his forces.
As I have asked elsewhere, what's the difference between Hamas and Putin?

Gunny B14 Jan 2024 4:01 p.m. PST

Putin is more effective at killing civilians?

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2024 5:16 p.m. PST

Yes, like Hamas and other islamic terrorists they target civilians. As Putin, they purposely aim at civilians. No CD just targeting and killing non-combatants.

SBminisguy14 Jan 2024 10:57 p.m. PST

Ahhh… so the Democrats are trying out a policy justification for unrestricted mass illegal immigration: the US birth rate is low, so we need to import more people! So says Chuck Schumer:

now more than ever we're short of workers uh we have a population that is not reproducing it on its own with the
same level that it used to. The only way we're going to have a great future in America is if we welcome and embrace immigrants the dreamers and all of them cuz our ultimate goal is to help the dreamers, but get a path to citizenship

YouTube link

Oh, and we need more Plantation Serfs!

"We need immigrants in this country," Democratic Rep. Jerrold Nadler said Thursday during a House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement hearing. "Our vegetables would rot in the ground if they weren't being picked by many immigrants — many illegal immigrants."

There you have it: Import tens of millions of unskilled 3rd worlders without any oversight or restrictions, make them citizens so they can vote Democrat while the Democrats put them to work in the fields….

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP15 Jan 2024 3:15 p.m. PST

I don't think those leading guys want to hurt the country or are any more of a menace than the other side, which doesn't do anything. And nobody says just let everybody in with no checks or system so they can get more votes and rule the world. And maybe you-know-who is not the shadow Speaker of the House trying to create chaos.

There is no doubt that the border is a major issue for all voters.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP17 Jan 2024 9:57 a.m. PST

It has to be. Thousands of American citizens die from the drugs that the Chinese give/sell to the cartels. They use the sea of illegal aliens as cover. Based on ICE 90%+ of these illegal aliens don't qualify. As well the sex traffickers' crimes and other criminals crossing the border.

Plus, much larger numbers of those on the terrorist watch list along with 1000s of military males coming from the PRC/CCP … All this demonstrates a lot of problems for US citizens now and in the future. With 10-12 million illegal aliens wandering around the US. Most DHS really don't know who the Hell they are.

Protect "we the people" … not illegal aliens …

Medical, housing, food, etc. for 10-12 million illegal aliens the cost is ridiculous. That is the size of OH ! Ohio is the 7th largest state in the Union. And the Gov't really does not know who most of these people are.

We are going to have to be careful this year about all of this. We are accustomed to Biden taking it on the chin 24/7 in certain media and here, but there is an immense amount of concern about the other side that has raised fundamental questions about what might happen to us down the road. We are not going to agree, not going to change any minds. And we are not going to learn much unless we tie our debates to gaming, miniatures and history. ,

So….Texas told SCOTUS to pound sand, saying the Federal government is violating its fundamental duty to safeguard the States under the "Guarantee Clause" of the Constitution (Article IV, Section 4) and citing Article I, Section 10, Clause 3, that the States can take action "if actually invaded, under imminent danger, and without any admit of delay."

Evidently the Customs and Border Patrol Union agrees and members of Border Patrol are saying they will not obstruct Texas enforcing border security.

The Governor of Texas has moved in National Guard to re-install border defenses dismantled by the Federal Government.

The Biden Admin is now making noises about Federalizing the Texan National Guard and ordering the Guard to dismantle border defenses.

Why the everloving FRUCK is the Biden Regime so laser focused on keeping the US border undefended and open at all costs, to the point of triggering a civil war?!? Why is it so insistent about keeping the border open and undefended? What does Team Biden and the Democrats think they will gain by keeping the nation undefended and seeing millions and millions of unknown, unvetted, low-skilled, poorly educated illegal aliens coming into the nation enmasse?
