After a few years hiatus, I got around to painting this July and August.

Cold War Soviet motor rifle company and support troops, 85 figures in 28mm.

A platon of Cold War Polish motor rifle troops in 28mm, another 21 figures.

A cold war motor rifle company of East Germans in 28mm and support troops, another 85 figures.

An extra platoon of cold war soviets with AK74s in 28mm, another 21 figures.

Now a platoon of Cold War soviets in Eureka cam smocks and AK74s with support weapons in 28mm, another 42 figures.

A 35 man platoon of 28mm modern Brazaiians. These were Jungle Rot ANZACS with kevlar heads.

All I have to wrap up is anther 30 man platoon of Afircan Union troops. I just have to decide on a cam scheme.

I can't beleive all the figues that I have finally gotten around to paint.

Once the last group is painted, everyone gets the white glue treatment and a dip in the flocking sand base.

I am not sure what makes me more happy?
Completing this lot or opening up the space to start the next project?

I left out another 90 ISIS and Alquaeda figures, ten Taliban figures all in 28mm too.

Wow, that's impressive! You should take some pics. What is white glue treatment?

Thanks

John

That's some serious productivity

John. I am not the kind of guy who paints and does the base for show or selling a figure. I think I am a fair painter and paint them so that they look good for the table top and are matte clear coated or varnished over for when someone picks them up who has been eating a bucket of fried chicken.

Same goes for bases.
I do platoons at a time, the idea of puttying up a base, gluing in blades of grass and debris to hundreds of separate bases is appalling to me.

White glue,,, well once painted, I use school glue, remember the Elmers white glue from grade one and two? I paint that on to the base and between the feet and then dip the figure base into a small bowl of flocking sand. The coloured sand sticks to the glue, tap the figure so any loose stuff falls back in the bowl. let it dry for a day. Then spray the figures with your matte clear coat and done.

I hope that makes sense.

WOOHOO!

I finished painting my last african union platoon.
Now I can flock base my five hundred painted figures over the next day or two.

Planned the day off today to do basing.
So far about 300 figures done and a sore back from bending over.

Only another two hundred to go.

Wrapped up the day with around five hundred figures based.

Break out the drinks!

Let 'em dry for a day then a couple of days worth of light headedness from all the dull coating to come.

troopwo Supporting Member of TMP26 Sep 2023 12:15 p.m. PST

Two hundred and fifty dull coated and I can still see straight.

WOOHOO!!!

,,,unless of course it is the fumes doing the talking,,,

Last of my five hundred dull coated and drying currently.

Let the stowage wars begin.

Troopwo I do something very similar. I just add dark brown paint into the glue mix. I prepare a mix of sand, flock, static grass, construcion sand, fine brown ballast and natural dirt. Then I dip the stand into the brown glue. Then into the flock mix. Done. I can tailor the flock mix to a variety of environments. It's a great system that is one stop for my bases.

Thanks

John

You had me at paint in the glue mix.
That alone would probably save a bit of work.
