Another Rosny novel, this is a sequel to Quest for Fire. It concerns the son of Naoh and his comrade Zaouhr (a Wah that was adopted by the Oulhamr Neanderthals) who discover an unexplored land when they emerge from an underground river that they had been exploring. The novel is an excellent follow-up to Quest for Fire The novel introduces new Hominid types: the simian Lemurians, the menacing Chellians, and the Wolf Women. Fauna is a variety of Ice Age mammals with the giant cat being tamed as an ally of the main characters. |

I forgot to add that I read the recent translation by Brian Stableford included with Helgvor of the Blue River that I purchased from Amazon. There are other translations available online. |
