I ran some Full Thrust games at Historicon, after an 5 year hiatus. The first one was an 2 hour introductory level game, using Full Thrust Lite rules. The players had to destroy the 3 space stations around the planet (easily accomplished), then kill each other. Victory was determined by the point value of your surviving ships, with the higher point total being the winner. The forces involved were NAC and ESU.

Initial setup:

Closing and wiping out the stations…

Close range carnage…

Last turn, with the ESU winning.

Second game was an free for all. I had it set up for 4 players, plus my son, but there were some no-shows and I had to scramble to recruit some walkup players. I ended up with 3 players plus my son, so I removed the 4th fleet. This turned out to be an mistake; I should have run it myself. Victory conditions were simple; whomever had the most points of ships within 8" of the planet at the end of the scenario won. This was an attempt to discourage the tactic one player always chooses; to hang back while the other players whittle themselves down and then move in for the kill with intact forces. It only partially worked, and had I ran that 5th fleet myself, it might have prevented my son from pulling that tactic because would have had to fight ME instead. :)

Initial setup, with NAC, Civ Govt, UNSC, and Kharadorn ships.

3 fleets closing for an fight.

Close range slaughter-fest:

Slaughter-fest survivors moving away towards planet: Kharadorn naturally winning.

Here come the hesitant Kharadorns to the kill.

Last turn near the planet:

I hope to run some more games at Fall-In in November.

Out of place at a history convention, but it is a really nice-looking game. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.

The space mat was sold by Corsec, before the owner died and the company went out of business. I don't know if someone else offers something similar or not.

It is bright and vivid, so it works for most of my space games. :)

Long time no chat, Bill!

Alas, almost as long since I pushed space lead around a table, though some VSF flying ships ALMOST scratched that itch…

Alas, part deux, my own Cold Navy ships have not seen table ever, and yours look SO lovely.

Dear god, please do keep playing and posting and letting me live vicariously!

Doug,
The last time I had run a game was 2019, but I got burnt out (and discouraged) and decided to let someone else run games for a change. Which never happened of course. Recently, I was looking at all my ship minis, and decided that I needed to either sell them off since I wasn't using them (but my son pitched a fit at that idea, since he is a hoarder type), or use them. Since players around here are pretty scarce, it was convention games or nothing.

I did some tinkering with my old Next Generation Star Trek stuff, still need to figure out the Klingons since they were so overpowered before. I would love to run one of the Deep Space Nine battles again.

Good stuff! Like to see a good mix of minis appearing in a game, too.
