Hi all, I'm trying to collect all 8 parts of Gary Gygax's Gary Ancient Miniatures Rules that were serialized in the IFW's International Wargamer. I have parts 2, 3, 7 and 8—as well as the article on knights that Gary included as part of the series. Any help with scans, or even a smart phone snap, of parts 1, and 4–6 would be greatly appreciated. Some have said the rules were later collected and became Gary's "Classic Warfare: Rules for Ancient Warfare from the Pharaohs to Charlemagne" though comparing the two, they seem pretty different. The parts I am seeing are: Part I is in International Wargamer May 1969 Vol. 2, #5 Part 4 is in September 1969 Vol. 2, #9 Part 5 is in April 1970 Vol. 3, #4 Part 6 is in May 1970 Vol. 3, #5 Again, any help is appreciated. |

link Best I can do is this.. Total price would be $1,090. USD Vol 2, #5 $395 USD Vol 2, #9 $395 USD Vol 3, #4 $150 USD Vol 3, #5 $150 USD Wow.. would be interesting to look through these old magazines. Someone should find out how to buy the rights to do a reprint. Good luck I did not find any relevant information on this blog: link It did have some interesting articles with images of the very early games of Gygax. These were a bit before my time. Someone needs to collect old copies of these and make a gaming museum. It would be fascinating… |

Or get the whole thing comb-bound for $239. USD auction Or $90 USD link $100 USD link There's a copy available in the Stanford library, but I can't seem to get at it through Link+. But if you're comparing them you must already have the published book. Is the serialized really better? |
