Hello all,

I just got Victory at Sea from Warlord games. My group isn't "in to" naval gaming, but this game looks like a nice diversion from our usual fare.

That said, I did read that the full rules lists all the data cards for all the ships past currently made for the game. I'm may pick up a battleship or two for each of the Japanese and Americans…would it be bad form (or illegal) if someone post the point values of the American and Japanese ships here? I just want to compare their value so I can try and keep things even.

Or do I just need to buy the full rule book.

thanks,

Dave

Having the point schedule wouldn't help much…you need all the ship data card info too, not just points. The MRB has all. Then you can look up the old Victory at Sea by former Mongoose for some additional ships, plus expand into WWI era via the old Mongoose supplement for WWI.

We play the VaS often….. using 1/700 miniature ships. Bigger yes, but we expanded the game 3x for patio play…. like the old F Platt games. We have updated the damage rules, cleaned up the Japanese long lance torp issue, made markers for everything and forced players to steam in proper formation vs. Independent everyone for themselves formation tactics. Plus totally cleaned the independent aircraft movements into zonal movement for off table/patio.

The data cards come with the ships when you buy them…

Rather than using the point value which are always a best estimate by any game designer why not use the historical scenarios supplied in the book?
