"You'd have to take a fairly circuitous route from Russia to Eire. To avoid Scotland and England" There are, or were, a lot of strategic bomber bases around Murmansk Oblast. Overflight of Nordkapp into the Arctic Ocean and thru the GIUK gap would get you there. The Kh55 has a standoff range of 1000NM, and a TU95 bomber an operational range of 8000NM. That's more than enough. |
