I play CrossFire with 6mm, and love it! I think the system is great, and supports 6 people really well! Game moves quickly, and everyone is engaged. I'm wondering if there are any games that support 56mm scale and can support 6 players? I'm posting in the UltraModern forum because that would be ideal, but I'll be okay really with any time period, as long as it can support 6 people with 56mm scale.

I just really want a game with large miniatures that look awesome on the table.

Thank you so much everyone for the future help! I got a so much knowledge from here!

Any of the detailed 1:1 skirmish games would support multiple players; I doubt that any of these could be classed as moving quickly.

Check out Donald Featherstone's "Skirmish Wargaming", Skirmish Wargames colonial or western gunfight rules, or TSR's "Boot Hill". "Rencounter" is another possibility.

Most rules sets will accommodate six players/teams. The easiest answer to your question is to convert the rules you have to 56mm scale. I believe you actually meant 54mm, not 56mm, as that is evenly divisible by 6. It is also the typical size for plastic Army Men figures. Army Men figures do, however, range from 40mm to 60mm, in the wild. LOL!

Divide 56mm by 6mm, to find your multiplier: 9.333.

Divide 54mm by 6mm: 9.

Use a word processor program to re-create your rules' reference sheets, multiplying the numbers shown by 9. This will mean multiplying the Ranges, Movement Rates, etc., by 9.

By the by, I have been gaming with 54mm Army Men figures since 1998. I wrote and self-published my own set of rules, back then.

I've played many a game with them, since 1998. It is a blast to play at that scale, but it takes up a lot of space. I'm too old to play on the floor anymore. Last game was on a 12-foot by 30-foot table setup. Here are some photo's of that last big game: Green Forces assembled; Geen Invader's view of the city they had to take; Tan Forces defending their city; Tan's hydro-generators, important target for the Green Invaders to destroy, to force the city to surrender;the Tan's Tanks did not fare too well, but neither did the Green's Tanks, heavy losses on both sides; the hydro-generators were heavily defended, but the majority of them were eventually destroyed.

The short version is this: you can have amazingly fun games with figures of any scale. You can paint plastic Army Men figures to look decent enough to game with (Image 1; Image 2; Image 3.

If you have any questions, let me know. Cheers!

"Some Corner of a Foreign Field" was free. Empress purchased the rights and revamped them into Danger Close and now have a 2nd edition of the rules out.

Probably not. To quote the original post:

I've seen plenty of people play Crossfire with 54mm, you just need to arrange to the terrain to support the suspension of disbelief with the larger figures.

One of my pals is a huge 54mm fan and we have done some very large modern 54mm games, generally Arab Israeli Wars, classic 1980s Cold War with the odd diversion to Korea and the 1960s.We use "Little Cold Wars", specifically written for 54mm games. The figures are relatively cheap, but a divisions worth of die-cast T55s costs a fair bit.

56mm being close to 1/32nd scale.

There's a WW2 skirmish ruleset with 1/48th scale miniatures and matching figure cards by Baueda, called 1-48tactic, that might be worth looking at:

1-48tactic.com

These minis are closer to 35mm size figures (standing erect), and are very nice sculpts.

Ah, I missed the "large" proviso.

Bolt Action would work as well.
