About to start painting some Crimean War Russians and had a question. Regarding the forage caps, uniform guides describe them as grey brown but most images I see depict a more dark bottle green color. Which is more accurate? Thanks!

My Russians wear dark green forage caps with red piping. I don't know if it is more accurate, but it makes a nice contrast to all the grey-brown greatcoats.

The cap was sewn from dark green (almost black) cloth (like the uniform). Gray-brown color (the color of undyed cloth) had greatcoats.
The combination of color piping on the caps made it possible to determine belonging to the battalion and company.
