A year ago I built a topographical wargames board in scale depicting the terrain where the Glosters fought their last stand in April 1951. I've been taking that board to wargames shows across the UK, refighting one day of the battle at each show as a participation game, recording the results and then continuing with the next day at a subsequent show. I've managed 4 complete refights.
On April 29th, 30th and May 1st I will be running the game at the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum, in Gloucester itself, where anyone who comes along will be able to help commemorate the battles by taking part in a full refight over the three days of the Bank Holiday weekend.
The board will then remain on permanent display at the museum in the Korea room to help teach visitors about the battle.
If you have a spare hour or two please consider coming along and give the game a go surrounded by the artefacts and memorabilia of the heroic Glosters.
More information on the build can be found on my blog allhellletloose.co.uk. More details of the event can be found at soldiersofglos.com

We took part in one of those games, at Claymore in 2022. It was good-looking, very intense and well worth the investment of an hour or so. I'd recommend it!

Now THAT'S what an historical battlefield representation should look like!

I'd hate to be either side in those actions, but "Go it, Glosters!"

I followed your progress with great excitement when you were building that terrain and running your first games on it, Charles, and I remain very impressed by how you chose to honor the Glosters. But until now I didn't know your work would end up at the regimental museum, which strikes me as perfect. Wish I was in the UK so I could attend and participate in one of those games. On some future trip I'll visit the museum and see your layout in person. Congratulations on an awesome accomplishment!

There's a brief description of our experiences playing this game near the bottom of my article here: link , if anyone is interested.

I had the privilege of visiting the actual battlefield in the Republic of Korea back in 1995. Your terrain model really drives home the challenges faced by all the combatants.

Thank you all very much for your kind comments.

Col Gary thank you for writing up your experience, I am sorry I didn't see that earlier.

Mad Guru I didn't build it with the intention it would go to a museum but somebody on here said it was museum quality and so I thought why not? I contacted the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum and they were very interested. Things went from there.

Cheers
