With several models of tanks to choose from, a large supply of armored vehicles, and an undeniable numbers advantage, Russia's fleet of tanks should ostensibly be decimating Ukraine's on the battlefield…

Has there actually been much in the way of tank-on-tank combat? Mostly I see Russian armour advancing into built-up areas without infantry support and getting knocked out by Western ATGWs. Quite predictable actually, maybe the Russians should buy some copies of WRG Modern rules and a few tanks and figures from heroics and ros…..

They'd certainly be a lot safer pushing lead round than driving a convoy of tanks into a BUA

Proper training, proper leadership, and proper tactical drills Russia has not, thankfully.

Have seen some footage… but usually from high Drone, so difficult to make out what is going on.. One lower alt clip showed 2 Russian Tanks advancing toward a wood. Ukr tank went forward to challenge, thought better of it and tried to pull back… but was taken out.

Another showed Rus APC taken down by rather amazing shot from Ukr tank firing through V narrow gap between buildings. Either V quick reactions or had a 'spotter', of some sort.

Interesting article … I agree with much of what was posted here. Similar to what I and other have posted here before. As to many here it is glaring obvious and accurate. The Russians are tactically incompetent on all levels, and many areas. From not using combined arms, poor to no log support, leadership, etc., etc.

Plus, the Ukrainians are fighting on their own soil. To free their nation from imperialist invaders. The Russian troops lack any motivation. We see how this is playing out. Russian numbers have not proven to be effective. As they lack the ability to fight modern mobile maneuver warfare. They hold little more of Ukraine than when the crossed the border over a year ago.

One other factor is the Ukrainian tanks have some upgrades such as thermal imaging, which traditionally Russia has been reluctant to shell out for (even the T-80 was highly criticised for this omission. I don't know if it has been corrected.)

Many of the Russian AFVs in Ukrainian hands have upgraded, some say more "Westernize" … Regardless, they use their AFVs, etc. better that the Russians generally.
