So, with the new Victrix late Romans coming out, getting excited about my next project. I was thinking of doing a Western Army with mail and Intersica's and an Danubian Army with mostly scale and Spangelhelm's. Does that sound right or would armour and helmets be mixed within units? Also, I think it is not just armoured legions and unarmoured auxilia but a mix with the front rank in armour? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. |

It sounds OK to me, but you could mix without a problem. Late Roman Armies weren't all that Roman which would allow for more of a mix than at the height of the Empire. |

Have a look at the Wargames Factory Late Romans as well…they have some very nice figures. |

Wargames Foundry makes some nice looking figures as well. I don't know how they mix with what has been mentioned, nor can I actually answer the OP's question. |

Intercisa, original findspot for the Intercisa helmet is actually on the Danube – in Pannonia/Hungary – so excluding Intercisa helmets from a Danubian army may be going too far. |
