Slovakia delivers first 4 Soviet-era MiG-29 jets to Ukraine, apnews, March 24, 2023.
"The first four of 13 Soviet-era MiG-29 fighter jets that Slovakia decided to give Ukraine have been safely handed over to the Ukrainian air force, the Slovak Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

The ministry said the warplanes were flown from Slovakia to Ukraine by Ukrainian pilots with help from the Slovak air force, Ukrainian personnel and others."

An interesting development.

Makes it easy for Ukraine to field those, since they already operate that type.

Hope they are able to disperse and hide them well from Russian attack.

It will be interesting to see how well they are maintained, since during the Balkans conflict the jets opposing NATO were frequently launched without many systems being fully operational, e.g. radars, etc.

Yes, they can be in the air with crews who are already trained and experienced in very short amount of time …

Of course, the maintenance crews will have to a complete inspection of all systems. Before they take to the skies. That is always a given with any weapon system.

These were flown from Slovakia by Ukrainian pilots so they should be good to go.
