The 10th edition of Warhammer 40,000 will feature new models, new rules, and major changes to the lore of the game. In the next edition, the rest of the Hive Fleet Leviathan has arrived and The Imperium has their forces on the other side of the galaxy dealing with aging conflicts. The new fleet is the largest ever, and Imperial commanders need to dispatch the an elite Space Marine Chapter, the First Company, to deal with the problem.

Brand-new veteran Space Marine Terminators will return in this edition. They will be opposed by different evolved Tyranids, such as more deadly versions of Termagants. Several other factions will also see significant upgrades as the new edition rolls out.

The gameplay for the new edition has been completely overhauled to create a more streamlined experience and greater accessibility. They have reduced the number of faction stratagems available in the core game to few of the best ones, and improved in turn structure, army selection, morale, terrain, missions, the ways in which characters interact with units, and other facets of the game.

GW also took the opportunity of the new edition to update the stats of every unit in Warhammer 40,000. When this new edition comes out, every datasheet for the game will be available for download. These changes will also cause a whole series of codexes to be retired, and new codexes will return over time to replace the retired ones. The new edition will also feature a brand new mode of gameplay: Combat Patrol.

So … I'm going to score free and cheap science fiction miniatures soon? Cool.

Good point.

Games Workshop should just partner with One Page Rules before they experiences a Hasbro-pocalypse in reaction to rules systems rewrites and money grabs. It is obvious there isn't a thimbles worth of rules writing talent within Games Workshop anymore anyway.

"I'm going to score free and cheap science fiction miniatures soon?"

I'm rubbing my hands together.

I suspected nids, as they were perpetually out of stock on line.

Would have preferred the original types though, much more extra terrestrial. The modern ones look too earth based, the old ones you can't quite figure out what your looking at or how it works, they look off, in a good alien way.

Its suggested an old style carnifex may feature, so maybe that's a test. GW really should produce maybe 4 different hive fleets. Each stylistically different.

I read this is a fleet from the other side of the galaxy or such… but looks the same as the last one…

Hang on. The guants look the same, but they are the base unit. With an old style carnifex, hmm.

May be this will have a new (or, rather, old) style? The modern gaunts aren't that much different from the original, ever RT.

Maybe I'll have to wait, or just read/watch more.

The H Man02 May 2023 6:02 p.m. PST

Yeah. Disappointed.

The sort of old carnifex may work with some arm modifications.

Basically shoehorning in more new types.

The modern Tyranids have been based mostly (well, some) on races they devour. Ork biovore, Eldar zoanthropies, so on.

So, I like the new missile launcher idea.

Also, those blind looking chaps, a swarm blind beasties, hmm…

May GW be about to rip off Ver myn with a new rat army for 40k?

Of course the other subterranean 40k race of wee folk has not escaped me either.

The floaty thing cold be a decent proxy classic zoanthropies. The little one ripperjacks.

No hormoguants (I'm giving up on spelling), sad. Looking at classic, at least, they were the closest in look to Alien, an genestealer hands I guess. So maybe not so odd they are not there, perhaps GW is trying to get away from that?

Tyrant looks nice, for modern, hopefully the wings are optional.

Unfortunately a mixed bag, so I'm not there, plus marines I don't need.

The H Man02 May 2023 8:29 p.m. PST

Also not sure why marines again and not guard. That would have been cool. Space, I guess. That and marines have been in every box? At least servitors or sisters or something a bit different would have been nice.

I do wonder that the world wide ratio of marine models V everything else would be.
