I'm about to turn 70 and have limited my purchases to mainly things that I really want. I think long and hard before pressing the button. My lead pile is at a very manageable level as a result. Since retiring a few years ago, I have completed several project that were in the painting cue for decades. That said, my last two purchases have delighted me in every way.

The first was at a swap meet at a local hobby shop. I purchased about 60 old RalPartha 25mm skeletons to complete one of the last fantasy armies of my refresh list. Then last week I picked up several packs of Old Glory revolting peasants.

The skeleton are almost done and the peasants are ready to start. In both cases, each time I look at the figures I am delighted.

I love the joy this hobby brings me.

Hope you experience the same.

Glad to hear you are doing well and enjoying your hobby.
Our new puppy has kept me away from my lead pile for the last 7 months. I recently added to it a little and will probably add a little more later this year, not that I need to. I am more circumspect with my purchases over the past few years since I retired, also, currently being 72. Lately I have been telling myself this may be my last fig purchasing year but I am not going to actually commit to that, although I am staying away from new armies and periods.
Good wishes to everyone, whatever your circumstances.

I've been mulling over a plan to stop buying things after 2025. I'd make an exception for the odd "Ooh, shiny" moment, but these would mainly be one pack purchases.

Good job Col Durnford. I too have been downsizing and trying to finish unpainted units/parts of units. I haven't bought a miniature in 2 years now & try to sell as much as I can on the Marketplace. I turned 71 in December.

I'm 76 and I have no lead pile. When I am reaching the end of figures that I am currently painting, then I order more to paint. Usually two units of figures at a time.

Col Durnford you have found the true meaning of a hobby. Well done!

We're more or less at the same point. I turned 70 last fall. The last 28mm units (WOTR foot) are on the painting table, and the last 6mm units (WWII Italian infantry) are waiting their turn. The intention is to pick up only stray figures and vehicles from this point out.

My dad who is about to turn 80 had decided about 2 years ago that he was done with his armies and did not see the need to paint anymore. However he did have 1 last unit for his 30mm Napoleonic collection to paint which was finished in the Fall. Then he has recently painted up about 160 Mahdist and 80 British these past 3 months. Now onto the cavalry for this theater.
