ISIS in Syria/Iraq are pretty much done. We kill off one or two of their leaders frequently. We have around 900-1000 mostly Spec Ops running mission in those regions. However, ISIS-K in A'stan is busy with the Taliban/AQ. They are pretty much one in the same. Save for AQ still wants to make terrorist attacks on the West. But intel believes ISIS-K and maybe AQ will threaten the West/USA. With terrorist attacks again. FWIW we have caught many on the terrorist watchlist trying to cross the open US Southern Border. Well over 100 IIRC. But we don't know how many actually made into the USA. Which could commit attacks. The US should have kept about 2500 troops operating out of Bagram. Along with many of our NATO allies had contingents in country. Strike aircraft and drones out of Bagram would have kept AQ & ISIS-K from becoming a threat to the US/Europe. That was one plan some of the US GENs have briefed. And thought it was a good way to have some control over islamic terrorists/jihadis. I agree … But that was not the plan the CinC, etc. went with … 'nuff said. |

This has to be the 32nd Russo-Sino alliance since Panmunjom. These things evaporate like frost under an April sunrise. |

Reports in the media Iranian Suicide Drones attack two US bases in Syria. I US Contractor killed & 6 US troops WIA. US then sends airstrikes attacked two Shia Militia/IRGC(?) locations. Killing 8 IRGC, etc. Then the IRGC, etc. fired 10 rockets again at US locations. Causing 0 loses or damage. Still waiting to hear if the US retaliated this 2d attack ? Report was US radars picked up the Drones. But US ADA was down for Maintenance.(?) If true that really bothers me … for a number of reasons. As reports are the US Military is not getting the support it needs. E.g. parts for ADA systems ? We have about 900 troops there and work with the locals. Primarily to combat ISIS. Watching footage from Syria. I saw US Armored HMMWVs, M2 Bradley IFVs and Stryker Armored Infantry Carriers. Some pretty good firepower there … |

In is believed that there will be other attacks on US troops there. Another one today I just heard on FOX. But we have to show our firepower, strength, etc. Again to send a clear message. Don't with us. We know where those IRGC, Shai militia's etc. locations are in Syria. We should level them with airstrikes, cruise missiles, Reaper Drones, etc. Iran is our enemy along with the Shia militias they support. They also support Putin's war effort, as well. And Xi just broker talks better KSA and Iran. Seems the US leadership is behind the 8 ball. 🎱 |

BTW – On the subject of threats … This is from an email from the Military Officers' Assoc. of America. I am a member of MOAA and on the local staff … This is not good news, we have heard similar before … Only 9% of young people express interest in military service, and 77% of young Americans are not even eligible for service. 83% of military recruits come from military families, but that pool is shrinking. There's been a 12% decrease in the number of military families who would recommend service to others. Plus, as a side bar, I will add, most recruits come from the Southeast USA. FWIW – Many former CSA states for historical context … And No, I do not support the CSA or Slavery, but an interesting fact none the less …

Rural areas have provided a disproportionate number of soldiers since Rome. |

Yes, that is very true. As a 101 Rifle PL then Mech Co in a Mech Bn at Benning, in the '80s. We had many "County Boys". Most were pretty good troops. But we did have a lot from all over the US, etc. My Inf PLT, '80-'82, we were authorized 36. Only 8 of us were considered "white". The rest were Black then Hispanic. They kept track of that sort of thing back then. Maybe they still do ? But I really didn't care where you came from, or race, etc. Just so you did your job it was good with me and my PSG … Most of my troops were pretty good soldiers. Of course, at that time we had many senior NCOs and Officers who had served in Vietnam. Like my first PSG. He was from GA, IIRC. But he only saw green not Black, White or Hispanic, etc. As did I … But yes, again, the rural areas have always had a lot of troops in the military. We need more Vet's in Congress, IMO … |
