If the rumors are true, the 10th edition will be announced at AdeptiCon. I don't play 9th and frankly stopped after 4th edition. I love the "boxed games": Kill Team, Warcry, MESBG, the whole lot actually. I keep thinking I should get into 10th but I know it will be fun for like 6 months then the power creep and bloat will begin until 2026 when everyone is ready for 11th edition and I have $800 USD+ of useless codexes. It's like I can see it as if it's already happened… |

Mr. Elmo, as someone who just hears others talk about 40K, I think that you have legitimate concerns. I guess 40K players need to be like FOW and D&D players -- just find a version you like and stick with. As long as you are not into official tournament play, ignore their planned obsolescence business model. Of course, you need a core group to be in agreement as someone always wants to go with the newest edition. |

As long as you are not into official tournament play There's the rub! I do enjoy a bit of competitive play but that alone doesn't make a frozen ecosystem feasible. You see, the 10th edition Space Marine codex might have "Primaris terminators" which doesn't exist in 9th. Or, 10th edition will have a whole new race like…Zoats or something. Thus opens the floodgates! What Battlefront should do is come out with…Brazilians or something and make them completely over powered. |

Maybe try out their Horus Heresy game? I can see that being a more "stable" rules set due to its limited scope and popularity. |

Maybe try out their Horus Heresy game? Why I do! I have Space Wolves and Thousand Sons for the whole Burning of Prospero. One thing I would like to see is Eldar and Orks for Great Crusade era battles. I play "not 40K" 😝 |

That's a hell of a racket they have going. |

It's not a racket. It's a successful business model for them. I'm glad I walked away from GW long ago. |

I'm optimistic: free rules and stats (allegedly always). Fewer stupid Strategems and streamlined game play. If games get back to 2 hours, that would be great. |
