I'm looking for a set of rules for ancients (Trojan War era, to be precise) suitable for "armies" of about 10 warriors. This should allow for a little fudging: maybe two or three of the guys stayed home this time or one of them brought along his son or a friend. I'm looking for something with the differentiated, perhaps by having separate stats. It would be nice if there was some flexibility to add a fantasy element to the game, in case I take a turn towards the dark side. I'll be using the rules with 28 mm figures. Any suggestions appreciated. Grelber |

Tryphon from Alternative Armies would seem to fit the bill. |

There is a new set out that, I believe, you can get from Wargames Vault. Called Homer's Hero's: Bronze Age Bad boys. $10.00 USD. By what I have read this would be exactly what you are looking for. A hero and retinue and a secondary side kick or two vs another hero and retinue. I am thinking of getting them. I will also second Typhon. Great set of rules that does exactly what you want. |

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I realized I have a copy of En Garde, and have been searching for it, though unsuccessfully so far. Grelber |

One-Hour Skirmish looks to be good for a try; the Facebook group page has a PDF download available for an Ancient period variant (or PM me and I'll send you a copy). The author is working on a full sequel book to cover Ancient, Medieval, and Fantasy eras. The basic rules are designed for the period 1800-to Modern (and some sci-fi) but easily adaptable to earlier periods. They look to be fun and easy to pick up and play. |
