I like the idea of mixed crossbow and handguns, something I have proposed in my own rules, Bills, Bows and Bloodshed. In part this is supposition on my part given that new weapons do not arrive overnight but rather appear over time. But in part, also, there is the flag of a Burgundian handgun unit which was captured by the Swiss in 1476/77, but which shows a crossbow on Burgundian blue and white background colours. Barry |

Yes, I've always thought it unlikely that they were used in separate formations. Mixed together in loose order seems much more plausible to me. They essentially have the same function, and I don't differentiate between them in my own rules. I have three units of 10 like this, one is just handguns, whilst this one and the other are both 6 guns to 4 crossbows. I lean further towards handguns as these are mostly used to represent German mercenaries who fought for the Burgundians in the War of Burgundian Succession, who were apparently mostly handgunners – see this article – link It also fits well with this well-knwon depiction of missile infantry, which shows a mix of the two weapons, but predominantly guns.
